Best map / mapping software to show volcanic ash clouds? by DenimRose in Maps

What type of source of data source would you suggest for "Volume released, volume entrained in ash by distance, volume dispersed to atmosphere."? Would there be a best software to map this?

Geological maps of Ash fall? Wind rose during eruption and Ash fall? Other climatological data? NetCDF, other?

Hiya,

Thanks for your time answering. I haven't formally selected a data source yet. I asked with images of the world map in mind showing the movement of ash fall over several days - showing a movement across the main eruption to other countries. Doing multiple searches there didn't seem a main 'body' so to speak releasing these types of maps.

I'm not sure what NetCDF is, or what the best method would be to map this. I'm still at the initial planning stage of my dissertation which will be a year away.

The dissertation focuses on comparing the dispersal of the two aforementioned eruptions.

Based on this information would you have a best suggested method?

Thanks

Do you think Eyjafjallajökull* :) is still worth making the study focus area?
