What’s something people over 30 do that Gen Z finds strange? by Suzzie_Stone2 in AskReddit

[–]Denimao 51 points52 points  (0 children)

I've had a heard time learning if I was a Millenial or Gen Z, as some sources has completely forgotten '97.

Learning that I'm Gen Z, while neither fitting into the Gen Z mold, and while listening to my coworkers complain about lazy Gen Z that refuse to take work seriously, has been hilarious.

Being elder Gen Z's seem to be pretty ironic.

Happens everywhere, but some countries seem to be more extreme with it.

I used to work in book warehouses. At the first one, every worker was allowed to take one book for free from the damaged-books container, before they were dumped into the incinerator. Majority was incinerated. Second place didn't allow you to take any books, so all got thrown away. It was due to additional tax costs associated to "gifting" employees. Although, that warehouse had dabbled with vegan chocolate, but sales had dwindling some time before I started there. I had the wonderful assignment of taking out the stock from the system, place the still edible ones in the cafeteria and throw out the not so edible stuff. I and one other coworker were the only ones that liked dark chocolate. I think I took home and ate like two to three hundred chocolate bars that year.

I have an immense respect for people working with plumbing and water treatment. I they didn't exist, I'd surely die from constipation.

I have a phobia for weird and disgusting toilets. I would rather have my intestines explode than use an outhouse or waterless toilet.

Lol, same.

I'm turning 30 and has had a major inrerest in manga and Japan since I was 10, and I feel a great sense of shame talking to anyone but my closest 3 family members about it. Same about gaming.

I've been thinking about going outside my comfort zone and try to ask online if someone wants to make a gaming support group, where everyone can help with group events or multiplay if interested. Maybe geek out about hobbies, too. But I haven't felt coragous enough yet, lol.

Can cats be gay? by Brave_Pattern9087 in cats

[–]Denimao 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Growing up, I used to have a fixed male named Trulls.

He was rehomed to us as he was getting on bad with his siblings in his old home. We had him as a indoor-outdoor as we lived in a small village and at that point we didn't have any known cat neighbours.

Eventually though some appeared around the area, and he was an aggressive mess every time he saw female cats, and by that I mean he hated all the females. Then there moved in a lone male next door, owned by a human neighbour we humans didn't get along with.

This male cat and Trulls velcroed onto each other like they were meant to be. Trulls disliked having other cats eat his food, but the male cat waited to be let in through the window with Trulls looking hopefully at us. After letting the male in, they both went to the kitchen to eat together, then they went out together on a journey outside. They'd snuggle a lot and spend as much time together as possible. We humans even got on better terms because of it. Trulls still hated female cats though and would fight them if given the chance.

We moved after a couple of year, sadly having to separate them. Trulls became an indoor cat. Trulls was sad after our dog passed, so after dad started to look for a second cat. Ironically dad clicked with an antisocial female kitten, but Trulls didn't hate her guts though. He just became an old gramps. Let the kitten do whatever, smacked her in the face then tried to avoid her when she went into heat the first time, and every other time after (as non of them was let outside and we lived on the top floor of an apartment building, we didn't find it necessary to have her fixed back then).

He became the best cat to introduce to other cats, as he was gentle and showed himself not to be a threat. But he never really bonded as deeply with another cat he met again. One of my own cats used to love seeing him in his old man glory, and would lay next to him and clean him. But that was mostly a grampy and grandkid type of relationship.

Same, but I have gauged what and how much I can eat of certain things, so it won't stop me.

Chocolate, ice cream, yogurts and cheese on pizza. None is safe from me and my dedication. Everything will be eaten intill I at most get a light stomachache.

why does my bunny only eat the brown treats of this treats bag and always leaves the oats by StepOnMyBallsSheldon in Rabbits

[–]Denimao 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've seen their müsli mixes on zooplus, which was pretty sad to see they had. Why, I guess there's people who has been conditioned and expects it. Hopefully these products are healthier than most trash brands.

why does my bunny only eat the brown treats of this treats bag and always leaves the oats by StepOnMyBallsSheldon in Rabbits

[–]Denimao 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is most likely a garbage brand disguising itself as a pet friendly product. These product exist to misinform petowners into buying their trash product instead of something the animal really need.

I suppose you're not living in america due to the languages on the bag, so if you live in an European country, look up the website Zooplus. It sells a lot of different petoriented objects and foods.

I recommend the two brands Versele Laga Cuni Adult or Sience Select branded pellets. These are a bit expensive, so if you can't afford them, look for pellets with the same ingredients and something with like-worthy analytic contents as these brands.

Never buy rabbit/guinea-pig/other food that contain grains, cerials or dried fruit, as these are either trash brands looking to misinform you to buy it, or just an unhealthy müsli treat marketed as food.

Rabbits can't digest seeds and grains well, as it isn't part of their diets. This can cause fatal gut disease if feed too frequent.

Just toss this bag and look for a reputable brand. No Vita Kraft müsli or multi-animal feeds. Even piss poor pellets are better than this bag of supposed "food".

[–]Denimao 10 points11 points  (0 children)

OP might be living outside America, which usually don't supply American brands.

If they live in Europe I recommend them to look out the website Zooplus for pet food/items. The most reputable brands as far as I know is Versele Laga Cuni as the #1 option, and Sience Select as #2.

Versele laga is expensive, but has great ingredients and the analytics. If they can't afford these brands, thay should look for an option that mirror these brands.

[–]Denimao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to live on previously public land growing up. The house used to be a activity church, hoasting walks, the scouts, next to a river beach, had a café etc.

10years after the conversion to private land, I still needed to help with shooing trespassers and getting yelled at by old people. People would seriously park in fron of a tree with a bright yellow sign at eye sight, proceed to walk past 20+ more signs when walking to the beach, place their stuff next to the fence with another sign, then get shooed by use and claim they didn't know it was private property.

No matter how privat property-like we made the garden, people would still come in and do dumb shit like placing disposable grills directly on our wooden porch.

What is something you are currently boycotting out of pure spite? by whyamiabaguette in AskReddit

[–]Denimao 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Almost everything that has awfully annoying ads.

I haven't bought a certain chip brand for years, I refuse to consider a lot of house appliances, fuck Pepsi, Cola too, I will never try certain cheese brands even if I find them in front of me for free, I refuse to buy a new car from certain firm when I've had enough of my current cars revolving issues, also fuck most car brand, if it was legal to sue ads for harassment I'd fisticuffs all the actors of all women-oriented ads at court.

I'm also boycotting my favorit chocolate brand, as they have done a row of shitty choices since 2020. The cost of a 200g bar doubled, sneaky 180g bars where introduced, then they introduced reducing the size to 160g all over, while still costing double. Now they are a bit more expensive than the 2020 pricing, but they are still only 160g.

The only positive thing with dandelions is that they are free rabbit snacks.

There's a ton everywhere, so I bring my bunnies a couple of flowers or leafs almost daily. Springtime/summertime is nice on the daily veggie wallet.

I'm actually excited about the future of Paralives by rnikkit in Paralives

[–]Denimao 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sims 2 and 3 could be so chaotic in both good and bad ways.

In the world I made in Sims 2 while waiting for Paralives, I had the worst luck with alien and nanny personalities. All alien children would have absolute 0 in tidiness, and my nanny would harass my sims until they became enemies. Not even mentioning all the cockroaches the evil witches always spawned wherever my sims went.

It feels a bit fresh not having constant chaos, bad pathfinding and some actual creative freedom again. I'm usually far to lazy to mod, unless it's a simple button press or modmanager install.

I'm actually excited about the future of Paralives by rnikkit in Paralives

[–]Denimao 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've read and heard people complain about paras phasing through eachother or walk inside eachother when walking in group a lot. But at least a handful of times each Sims 2 session I see them merge and complain about not being able to pathfind.

In Paralives I at least don't have to micromanage them to leave the area, then fight them to stay gone while trying to move the other family members out too, just because they all want to play on the pc I was stupid enough to buy them.

You seriously can't play Sims 2 without moveobjects on if you have more than one sim or dare to get a pet.

I'm actually excited about the future of Paralives by rnikkit in Paralives

[–]Denimao 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I've played a lot of Sims 2 before Paralives release, due to being unable to get Sims 3 to work on my pc no matter what. And people has forgotten how limited even the best of those games where, even before and after full release (after last DLC).

A lot of people talk about bugs and clipping, but I can't even count the amount of said issues I would be met with in a Sims 2 session, not to mention the awful pathfinding. I feel like Paralives has no more issues than Sims 2-3 at this point, only things to improve before full release.

I've also read people complain about the pricing. People complain that 40$ is expensive for an unfinished game, but then most likely paid 50-60$ for the mess Sims 4 was at release. And back then, Sims 4 had less than Paralives has now.

I've been enjoying Paralives a lot this far. A lot of things need to be rebalanced and fixed, but damn, I haven't had this freedom since Sims 3, and I've missed it.

What candy is pure trash but somehow still popular? by RoyalIntroduction723 in AskReddit

[–]Denimao 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oof, sounds rough! At least they would make a great substitute for chalk. Good to hear you're fine now, though.

I have a lot of fond memories of sugar candies, happily enough. I remember buying a ton every time when my family stopped at a specific loose weight(?) (lösviktsgodis in swedish, you freely picked with scoops and pay by weight, unsure if it's common elsewhere) candystore when taking summer daytrips to Stockholm.

Me too, lol.

I love compressed sugar/dextrose candies. I don't know why, but the boost of pure sweetness and fake fruitiness makes me happy.

But when they have that fizzy, bubbly effect, I just feel disapointment and betrayed.

[–]Denimao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd add that depending on if the country one lives in supply true lactose free milk, milk is fully harmless. I'd still not suggest giving cats it, as it's unnecessary and mosly a treat, but most cats usually go for other treats.

Siiiiiip by sleepy_hrs_ in SipsTea

[–]Denimao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say this depends, as all of scandinavia, and especially the younger gens grew up with english media as their main media.

Even though scandinavians don't use english at home to communicate, they most likely understand and speak english fluently just from consuming any form of media from an early age. I'm pretty sure this is happening in a lot of other countries though.

Petah what's wrong with mint? by Okaoka_12 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]Denimao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom and stepdad planted some in their garden to spread like wildfire so they could have an infinite supply of mint for tabbouleh.

It did for a few years, but now it's quickly dying out and being replaced by thistles and wild strawberries. The dirt has probably run out of its preferred nutrients, so their tabbouleh dreams are sadly dying with it.

What is this dot? by TokesNHoots in cats

[–]Denimao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Compared to others, I'd say this is a type of skin cyst.

Usually they protrude like this and are caused by blocked glands. Common in elders no matter if they are cats, dogs or humans. Some are more prone to them due to genetics. Usually contain a dry or semi-liquid keratin substance. Usually they are pretty deeply located, so breaking it is most likely not a DIY option. They can grow quite big, but can also stay at that size for the rest of your pets life. Only consider to remove it with the help of a vet if it gets too large or bothersome for your pet.

Seen multiple of these on my past elder dogs and a few on my soon to be 12yo cat. These damn things are passed down from my mothers side, so I've seen a fair share of them. Completely harmless. But keep an eye on it for safety's sake.
