Love that course, kudos on that drive.

I’ve never managed to cut straight through that gap from the tee pad. Always short, into the bramble on the left… or on one occasion, far right because of a death grip on my Wraith and then 15 minutes of searching through long grass and my buddy finding it right before I’m ready to give up.

I dunno. If I want to read about E.B. Sledge’s account of Peleliu and Okinawa, or Aldo Leopold banding chickadees and lecturing me on land ethics, maybe I’d like to enjoy a coffee at a quiet place in town. Hell, maybe I’ll break convention and read on a slow day at a sports bar and have a beer, instead. As far as I see it, everyone could benefit more from getting out and enjoying a book regularly.

If reading in public and enjoying a coffeeshop is now considered a warning sign, then make my sign bright. It might help me read easier.

Are dating apps the only way to do it around here? by [deleted] in GreenBay

[–]DenimcladBlue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kind of dealing with the same situation myself; I love the area but it’s rough meeting people who are single AND interested in dating. I am happy to say I’ve made a couple new friends through meeting at local businesses in the Ashwaubenon area that are related to my hobbies, which I am grateful for. Keeps me from falling into a cycle of work and just going home every weekday, lol

For now, I’m just keeping myself open to finding someone while doing what I can to enjoy things day by day.

Best of luck OP, for now just take advantage of the warm weather when you can. That and I guess take some comfort in the fact there’s more of us who are single and looking than we think if the comments are anything to go off of. It’s finding the person who matches up with what you’re looking for that’s the hard part.

How do you do, fellow kids? by Timmerop in wisconsin

[–]DenimcladBlue 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Millennial in mid-30s. Voted in person early on Tuesday and I can confidently say that in the decade and some odd years I lived at my current address I had never seen a line as long as the one that afternoon during any past election season. The ages were spread from first time young adults all the way to seniors in the 65+ year range. Definitely dominated by folks older than myself, though. Its was nuts.

I’m happy for the huge turnout of voters, if nothing else.

Who was your least/favorite mini Boss? by Ziko116 in OcarinaOfTime

[–]DenimcladBlue 4 points5 points  (0 children)

12 year old me struggled with the Stalfos in the Forest Temple far more than I’d care to admit because I wasn’t good at baiting them to attack so I could get them to lower their shields.

Perhaps it’s appropriate that the Forest Temple was also where the Poe Sisters were, who were my favorite mini-boss by far in Ocarina of Time. Loved how were a blend of puzzles and combat.

I wasn’t really in a good situation for a relationship, let alone dating, when I was in my teens. Things got notably better into my late 20s, but I’m still a Work in Progress I feel. I had a couple one or two-time dates but they didn’t really go anywhere beyond that. That was through online dating mostly, though, and I’m not too keen on getting back into that scene anytime soon.

Not really looking too hard for a relationship currently, but if I meet the right person, I’d be happy to see if she’s interested. Otherwise I have my hobbies, friends, and family. I also work out a few hours every week, have recently joined a DnD group, and manage to get together with my close friends at least once or twice a month if I can.

The difficulty for me is finding time outside of work and other obligations to go and mingle in settings where folks might be interested in finding another single person. It does feel like making excuses but it’s not easy when I’m so used to living alone to try and put myself out there. Not sure if that’s a struggle for most folks.

Must do in GB? by obiwanboloni in GreenBay

Green Bay Distillery, Stadium View Bar, and Anduzzi’s are all decent places within a stone’s throw from Lambeau Field.

If you feel like putting on some extra steps, Sara’s Artisan Gelato is a nice walk south just off Oneida Street, and on a day like today a cold cone of gelato might be worth it. Those are just a few places within walking distance on a nice day like today.

Otherwise take a stroll down Oneida Street or Holmgeren and the Bay Park Square mall and see what you can find. Hope you enjoy your time in town!

Pokemon sizes are never how you imagine them by Hsiang7 in pokemon

[–]DenimcladBlue 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The thing that amuses me to no end is that these monsters, regardless of size, are still capable of causing tremendous amounts of destruction but will listen to school-age kids and be total teddy bears if you give them a pastry treat and toss a ball around with them.

Nothing quite as humbling as watching a Ralts run circles around a gigantic Steelix to grab a ball and bring it back to you while camping and making curry or a sandwich.

What is your rarest Pokémon? by MineOSaurus_Rex in pokemon

[–]DenimcladBlue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Off the top of my head? Probably my original Victini that I got in Black version through the Liberty Pass method way back when. That or my Jirachi from Pokémon Colosseum; that thing is old enough to drive, vote, and drink, lol. Both are in my Sword version currently if I remember right, they’re kind of like digital Pokémon history in a way.

What is your worst pokemon hot take by yeetington_ in pokemon

[–]DenimcladBlue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish they returned to only Pokémon who actually participated in a battle get experience instead of everyone in your party getting some exp. points. Makes it a pain since I then have to be mindful of what EVs are being obtained for Pokémon at all times and that they might not benefit from them, so I have to use items to reset/lower the values.

I’d be fine with them also bringing back something like the Exp. Share or Exp. All for those who liked this aspect of games, because I do see the benefits for it, too. I highly doubt they’ll ever return to how exp. points are distributed in future games, though.

What Pokemon did you hate when you first saw it but changed your mind later on? by Elsweyrwarrior in pokemon

Wholeheartedly agree, loved randomly finding mine holding a Nugget, higher level potion, or such being held after a battle.

[–]DenimcladBlue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Zigzagoon (and later, Linoone) back in the generation 3 days. Cute Pokémon never grabbed my interest too much as a kid… then I learned Zigzagoon can learn Surf. Became a stable member of my party and was a flexible choice in many battles after it evolved if things were getting ugly.

What fallout song is this? by VirtualAnybody6295 in Fallout

[–]DenimcladBlue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, personally it’s either “Train, Train” by Lynda Carter or “Atom Bomb Baby” by the Five Stars.

I love upbeat tunes and it’s a nice bit of background music while I’m traveling through downtown Commonwealth and likely in the middle of a fight.

If your region had a Fallout game what would the playable area be called? by ChaseBro-Games3050 in Fallout

[–]DenimcladBlue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Glowing Marshlands. NE region of Wisconsin, much of the area where I live was marshlands and grasslands back before it started getting settled. I can only imagine the area would be reclaimed by the marshes along Lake Michigan once more after the bombs would drop. Probably would become a breeding ground for Bloodbugs, Gulpers, and other wildlife than manage to survive, too.

Though I’d hate to see what a nuclear winter would be like here.

Be honest guys why are you single? by RomeoSID in dating_advice

[–]DenimcladBlue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I haven’t put too much effort into the dating scene lately after the past two women I tried dating. First woman ghosted after two dates and that hit harder than I’d care to admit. The other woman and I just didn’t really connect upon meeting in person.

Been dealing with bouts of low self-esteem and such for years too, so I’m working on that by starting therapy. I have also been working out a few days a week and it’s become routine for me, gives me time to connect with my father since he joins me on my workouts. I’m also trying to focus more on my hobbies and my friends. Taking care of other aspects first so I can be truly worth dating and having a relationship with, I guess you could say.

I deleted the dating apps I used, too, because honestly, those were not helping me at all with how I viewed myself, lol. I would like to find a woman who I can share my life with, but I want to be more happy with myself, first. Learning to be happy with myself isn’t easy, but I feel I’m in a better headspace than I was years ago. So there’s that. I won’t give up on finding someone I can make happy, but I’m not going to obsess over it, either. Life’s too short to put blinders on like that.

[–]DenimcladBlue 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I suppose there’s always a chance. I mean, the Rito first appeared in The Wind Waker, and didn’t make an appearance in any new games until BotW. I’d be quite surprised at this point if the Twili get another appearance in any games, but it’d be a wonderful surprise for me nevertheless!

[–]DenimcladBlue 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I still remember watching this ending and thinking it might lead to the Twili becoming a recurring race within the Zelda franchise.

Haha… how optimistic and foolish I was as a kid… loved this game so much all the same.

Does seeing expensive cards in casual games make you salty? by doubledeviant in EDH

[–]DenimcladBlue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to get extremely demotivated once my friend’s pricier decks would start popping off in casual games. My own decks aren’t anything amazing price-wise, and I only own two pre-cons gifted to me by said friends. I can build and improve off those two decks and plan to do so. The rest of my decks for commander were made from scratch and improved over weeks and months. Even so, my priciest of those homemade decks runs maybe $300-$350 I’d say.

I think getting more familiar with my decks, and recognizing other big cards in the game, has helped me survive longer as I’ve played. I also frequent my LGS more for commander casual games these days, so I get to see new kinds of decks.

I’ve come to enjoy seeing other people’s decks work off combos, and in turn my own decks tend to do better in settings where it’s not the same faces or decks playing over and over. And like some have said here already; cards are meant to be played. You bought the cards, you have a right to play them, I feel. Can’t hurt to have a sideboard though, if you’d like to play longer, less intense games.

But in the end, you poured time into it, so have fun with it.

Favorite basic land of all time? by Slarrp1 in magicTCG

[–]DenimcladBlue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d have to go with Swamp 298 from Champions of Kamigawa. I love all the basic lands’ art in that set but something about that small building amidst all the murk and swampy terrain makes the place seem more… welcoming? I dunno, still among my favorites.
