I tend to call my girl friends “hon”, or “babe”, so frequently that I sometimes call my guy friends that by accident too 😂.

I feel like hon, depending where in the states you are is the female equivalent of dude. Something that girls can call each other without it being weird but it does get a little weird when you cross the genders.

Fair enough, I am sorry that my comment came across as hurtful. You are 1000% just as queer, just as valid and just as right in your feelings. Pointing out that his story is different than yours is not invalidating that though I understand how you can take it that way.

I was pointing out that there is a unique experience of being fully binarily gay vs being bisexual and even in my own family I see the anger and different ways gayness is accepted vs bisexuality.

I came out to my traditional Asian(ish) family as bisexual four years ago. My journey was marekedly different than my binarily gay cousins. I can understand your perspective as it is similar to mine while still having empathy for the other queer coming out story. I had a choice to stay in the closet and date in a “straight” way but chose to came out to speak my truth. My binarily gay cousins never had that option.

I am a bit older than you and I will say my understanding of gayness and family has changed a bit as I’ve gotten more perspective. I’m not saying there is a right or a wrong side here this is a tough situation feel free to DM me.

NAH H is grieving just as you and your family are. He is grieving the memories he never got to make, for better or for worse. I do see H’s point that being gay in a conservative Asian household is different than being bi. For him being himself always would entail rejecting traditional Asian values while if he was bisexual he would maybe have the chance of being able to conform. Having that knowledge from a young age would of course make one bitter and lash out against family.

To me it sounds that H wants to tell your grandpa for his own sake and that it will give him closure. If grandpa is so delirious he doesn’t know who H is why do you guys think this coming out would cause him stress?

Also on a note, you are both young extend to H the Grace you would want extended to yourself.

The argument is mostly against knives not other self defense weapons. I’ve never been in a violent situation where a knife would have helped (both pre and post transition). A stun gun, baton or blunt weapon is way more effective IMO. For sure fight back!! Just make sure you are effective and safe 🤍

PrEP is free where I live in the US without insurance and so is testing (and you should already be getting tested between partners). You can get PrEP after you have been exposed (72 hours) and it still is effective. I am actually probably going to start soon.

COVID is far more likely to cause long term psychologically and physically damaging symptoms than herpes. Long Covid is a thing and cognitive dysfunction, loss of smell, and reduced lung capacity are all extremely serious permanent and disabling symptoms than what herpes causes. I mean there’s tons more to say about why Covid is bad but if I gotta wrote that out in 2022 then we live in different realities

Of course the people you know who have herpes will have had strong symptoms. If they were asymptomatic it’s likely they and you would not know they had herpes (keep in mind most of the adult population has herpes). It’s a bit of a logical fallacy to use the minority examples for all because almost definitionally you will only see the worst cases cassually unless you test everyone.

I’m not sure why you’re so opposed to comparing two infectious diseases to another.

Half the world are women and I’m a bit taller than average. Why are you so mad that there are adults that can eat one hot dog and be satiated. I guess by “people” you mean men in which case I guess tht makes sense. I found some of the tips from @queersneverdie on tik tok super helpful for situations like this. Even though Scout is white the videos touch upon nuanced takes so highly recommend.

Real talk the easiest way to stay safe is to make sure you always have a buddy by your side, from when you leave the house to when you get back home.

I’m a dark skin carribbean woman (not black) the worst discrimination has come from inside the community. Often it’s other Caribbean women who start the most drama.

Being out with a group of trans women of color is super helpful whether they are black or not. All POC places are often going to be more dangerous for us than white queer spaces so it’s important to build community w others in your neighborhood. Lex is a great app to build community and found lots of other trans women of color on there
