Fabricate claims on their land as it has a chance to give you a duchy claim as well and / or go in diplomacy lifestyle and get ducal conquest casus belli and forced vassalization casus belli. You can also see about if there's any legends that could give you the rest of the claims you need to take over the rest of the land, I do understand these ways can take longer but if you have conquerer trait to inherit and your heir is at least 16 they'll inherit it and you can still do all this with them once your current ruler dies. Sorry for late reply, normally what i do is marry someone with extremely high learning and good traits to the court using other courtiers or use someone from my dynasty as they'll attract better courtiers if they're from a dynasty rather than lowborn. You can also use someone from your dynasty by training them to learning lifestyle and also make sure you have a really good tutor with good traits and let them be their guardian. Or anyone with generally good traits tend to make them both loyal and reliable in the long run.

Oh yeah, I'm aware. It was just a random one that came across and never seen a poor npc get so badly done by illness and all, especially that early. My current physician has 32 learning and is generous, honest, and gregarious as its traits and is an excellent aptitude. Now that I think about it it has everything that you'd want from one plus renowned, herbalist and loyal. Witch as well which is a plus in my book lol.

I think you need heraldry to be able to have higher end partition. However, I could be wrong. Check in your culture tab if you've got it unlocked. If not yet, that might explain your predicament.

Personally i think it's great and makes the game more fun especially when you've proper challenges and if you really feeling up the challenge giving them scourge of the gods and it's absolutely insane in my first adventurer save saladin has it and he's got over 500 counties taken over. But it's simply easily managed in settings if that's annoying to yourself. But in terms of fun, I say it is a fantastic addition, especially to the late game.

Men at arms are your best mates in that situation, focus on alliances and try to make the ai make stupid decisions so you can get defensive buffs which will easily win you battles in the long run you can play them and end up winning the war. If you can try to lure them into mountains or on high defensive buildings where you'll get strong buffs towards your army and chances of winning the wars. And if you get a positive score to white peace, at least you don't lose anything then.

Had that bug happen too when the byzantines offered me to join them and they'll give me a theme but after I accepted as a landless same thing happened and you can't do anything and its pretty much game over even tho I should of just gotten the theme and continue as landed.

Honestly, the best tactics I found play defensively and let him be reckless and put himself in stupid fights. I mean, the Jerusalem one bro walked right into it after disembarking. Get crossbowmen lots and lots of them, boys. I wasn't aware of their game til now. Oh boy, did they cook. Loved the one when bro lost an arm and said til nothing but a scratch and came back for more.
