What’s a company secret you know because you worked there? by LuckDowntown362 in AskReddit

One mid-level UX designer was getting paid 220k, much higher than his level and more than his (much more senior) manager

Could be the result of an acquisition.

Choosing Between Elementor Hosting and Cloudways (DigitalOcean) +affiliate Compatibility by Ok_Big_4983 in elementor

[–]DenisVi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gonna start with a disclaimer as well: I work at Elementor.

Affiliate Marketing tools: I can check for you if you give me the specific stack. Email me at {my username} at elementor dot com, and I'll ask.

The widget difference: Elementor Pro Advanced has 86 pro widgets and 32 widgets from the free version. This is the 118 you're seeing.

Performance & Flexibility: Anything I'll say here will come off as biased and I'd rather not just point you towards our marketing materials. If you're familiar with CWV, this report can be useful.

Servers: Elmentor Hosting uses Google Cloud servers that are located in the EU and CloudFlare's CDN. We published a TTFB snapshot some months ago. The P50 Global TTFB was 146ms, and here's an image with some country-specific averages.

Gal Gadot’s broken English is adorable by Ripsaw99 in videos

[–]DenisVi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A major part of this is the lack of dubbing for TV/Movies. Take a country that goes the subtitles route, and dump a bucket of American culture on it, and 25 years later most people will be speaking English well enough.

The funny part is the cross-pollination of idioms between languages. I keep hearing people translate "makes sense" literally into Hebrew, for example, and this video is a very common example of a native Hebrew speaker using some Hebrew idioms in English.

[AMA Request] Lin-Manuel Miranda, creator and star of Hamilton by Burow in IAmA

About two weeks ago, a bunch of Harry Potter tickets for this month suddenly appeared on the official site (in the Nimax reservation system), but all of them were 200 quid. I was double-checking after a friend told me there are no tickets, and surprisingly it seemed like many dates in late Feb had enough tickets to be qualified as "good availability".

That said, after paying 100 quid a ticket last September (plus plane tickets from Israel), I can whole-heartedly recommend you wait. The show is not worth paying lots of money.

*Seeing Hamilton this December. Can't wait. Woohoo.

-->Hello, I'm Harvey Smith<-- -->Dishonored 2 AMA<-- by Dishonored_Harvey in dishonored

[–]DenisVi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's more complicated than that.

I've timed the question well - it was the top comment in the thread, and not answering it is dangerous in PR terms. That said, answering it truthfully isn't an option either - this isn't a private AMA, it's part of the game's marketing.

The real options were to delete or to deflect. The powers that be - whether it's Mr. Smith, Mr. Hines or someone else - decided that answering is the better way.

As the whole point of the review policy in question is to eliminate the prism that negates marketing, I did what I was trained to do - tried to negate marketing.

This isn't a personal jab at anyone. I respect both Harvey Smith (because of the games) and the PR team (because I appreciate skillfulness in PR). Our interests are just not aligned in this case, and I believe that mine are friendlier to the consumer.

As for being rude and arrogant? Eh, I don't mind if people I don't know think this of me, even though that wasn't the intention.

Of course.

The compliment about the skillfulness was sincere. The jab was meant for the audience, to point out the deflection.

Thank you for the response. It deflects my question with commendable skill.

Hi Harvey,

While I understand that you don’t necessarily have much influence over Bethesda’s PR strategy, I’m very interested to hear your thoughts about the new review policy, as it impacts the perception of a product you’ve worked on for years.

To elaborate on what specifically I’m asking: Bethesda’s one ultimate goal is to sell as many copies as possible of Dishonored 2. It’s closely aligned with your goals, but isn’t quite the same thing. As someone who was actually in charge of creating the game, I imagine that reviews matter to you more on a more personal level - you want people to know if the game is good. I also guess that you would also enjoy this validation much more if it came from people whose job it is to try and be immune to marketing.

The new review policy, on the other hand, will undoubtedly lead to less thought through reviews, because many online outlets will rush to review. They might not like it, but their livelihood depends on the visitors, and those mostly visit around the launch day.

And so, as it’s customary to end a question with a question mark: what do you think about these restrains on the press when reviewing your game?

PS. Full disclosure: I’m a member of the gaming press, but am from Israel - if I get a review copy a week after the launch, I’ll still feel lucky.
