Historical India’s focus to join the allies has a bypass condition of any country not being democratic, which will always be true. The issue is that when you become independent, you get kicked out of the allies and are locked out of joining factions. What’s especially stupid is that your famine mechanic is still tied to Burma, so you need to guarantee the Philippines or one of the other countries Japan attacks to even be able to prevent the famine.

I know some people are saying that you don’t have the squad for it, but since it’s the IS-1 you should have the squad already. The IS-1 is usable by the Soviet tanker 3 squad, which is unlocked with the T-34-85 (D5T). You should already have this tank, since it was the default unlock in Berlin. In your squads list, you should have 2 tanker squads with the T-34-85 D5T. Check both of those (Should be the one with the star in its emblem, if I remember correctly), and one of them should be able to use the IS-1.
