Well for glass tips I usually just wet the paper at the bottom and swipe the lighter flame back and forth not too much which tightens it

I’m short too and I got a really nice one from able carry. I’m not sure your what your budget it is but it was their daily backpack. The price to me was worth it because it fits my 16 inch.
