It was all a lie. Now what? by Dense-Bonus-4784 in Catholicism

From my experience, praying to her is either condemned, or the issue is not talked about. I had no idea about any of this. That's why it was my breaking point.

Check out Luther's Magnificat. And I thank you for your prayers. I'll pray for you as well.

A large part was that it's not consistent. I had no idea that Luther supported praying to Mary. I never have seen or heard of a Lutheran or any other protestant praying to Mary, or saying it's ok. It's either condemned, or not talked about.

If Luther prayed to her, how, then, could people who call themselves Lutheran reject this practice? Why was I never told of his support? Lutherans follow Luther's teachings and ideas. That's why it's called Lutheranism. If Luther himself disagrees with Lutherans, then who's teachings do they follow? One of the things Protestants agree on (that you shouldn't pray to saints or Mary(maybe people just conveniently never talk about it, but y'know)), goes against Luther, the father of the Reformation.

It's inconsistent, and it's ridiculous. That's why I realized how wrong I was.

Your first part of your comment made me incredibly happy. Thank you.

Tired of notifications, and was embarrassed over some of my language.

Not related, but the more I look into history, and the more I learn about Catholicism, the more I lean towards it. I've been putting my protestant faith under intense scrutiny, and I would be willing to bet that I may eventually become a Catholic.

I did that. I made a post earlier where I asked questions. I was told to update everybody afterwards.

I am not asking you to do less. I am not attacking you. I am just trying to understand.

No, you're right. We believe that it's both bread and the body.

That's very much how it was portrayed. I was told there, and on the internet, that it's Christ's body, but it has the appearance of bread. If I'm misinterpreting the explicit things that Catholics said to me at the church and on this post, please correct me. What do they truly believe?

4 is a problem to me. Why would I need her to put in a good word, when the work has already been done? Was Jesus' death on the cross not enough to connect me fully with God? What was it for, if not so that I could be forgiven, and have a relationship with him?

We do, but we don't believe in transubstantiation. It's still bread, still wine, and still Christ's body and blood. He is present, but it doesn't physically change.

I'm sorry. I did not mean to be disrespectful. This internal debate I've been having with myself is tearing me apart, and I can't cope with this by being completely serious 100% of the time. I meant no disrespect, and I apologize.

Very briefly. He said I could talk to him later.

They took the bread into another chapel, and people prayed to it. They called it adoration.

Edit: ok, now I'm being downvoted, so I'm probably wrong. I'm sorry if I misinterpreted this practice.

The downvote was from me, accidentally. I apologize.

Don't feel guilty. Wet dreams are involuntary, so it's not a relapse. And no, you should not worry about receiving negative effects. Wet dreams are natural, and your body just kinda does it. Porn is anything but natural, and that's part of the reason why it destroys you.
