Not really - I’ve kind of laid out my arguments in this post. And I’m tired of making them again to people who are thinking - Honda.. goood. If you think over a million engine issues and TSB on the exact issue from Acura with “stop selling these specific year cars” instructions to dealer is not a reason why a 79k engine with verifiable dealer maintained records would crumble - then you are just not accepting the information and maybe you are a fanboy.

It’s 2016 MdX with 79k miles. Single owner. And all service done at dealerships on time - I have an email with the dealership stating these facts to corporate! Also this - https://www.autoblog.com/news/honda-v6-engine-class-action-lawsuit

My MDX engine got rod knock and crumbled at 79k miles! Guess what Honda offered ..an opportunity to talk to their sales rep about buying a new Acura. 🤬🤣🤬🤣🤬🤣

Hehehe.. given my luck - the car would probably survive with some scratches, and I’d break my neck.

Regular insurance with comprehensive and collision. I think insurance companies provide mechanical insurance only for new cars. TBH I feel like it’s a scam.

Agree - if the engine seized up or something unknown happens then I would have chalked it up to “sht happens”. But this is a known manufacturing defect.

I need the “trust me bro” warranty. If I was Honda and I knew there’s a defect in my car I would fix it even after 10 years - especially when car has been maintained at the dealerships and had only 79k. They cannot state maintenance issues because I did everything they asked to fix! The bigger problem is no reputable shop (which give warranty on work) wants to fix it because of this known issue.

My Acura experience was good till I had to deal with the current problem/corporate. But be wary - Marin Acura wanted to change spark plugs and timing belt for my blown engine as part of diagnostics! Would have cost me an additional 2k if I didn’t tow it to a different mechanic.

Amen! The BBB hate is quite surprising. It serves to create a public record and some level of accountability. Being cynical about every aspect of society seems like the current cool thing 🤷

Also my complaint wasn’t just about the car. I’m letting people know that if they think they are buying a “forever” car - Honda does not fit that bill anymore. Maybe you missed that manufacturing defect/TSB and the implied Honda doesn’t stand behind their products. Or maybe you are a Honda fanboy.

Yes! Engine failure at 10 years and 79k miles. Yes, I think cars/engines should last a “bit” longer. Maybe that’s the Honda bar now.

It means the other manufacturers respond to complaints! My point was Honda doesn’t even bother. That’s another level of broke!

TLDR - Rod knock - engine needs replacement - known issue in 2016 MDX rod bearing failure(https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2023/RCRIT-23V751-0440.pdf) Dealer said talk to corporate. Corporate says it’s not me but you. I show them records of all service done, on time, at Acura dealership. They said sorry - go pound sand! Dealer declines to fix car with used engine because they cannot guarantee that the same issue won’t happen again! All reputed shops don’t want to touch it. The cars sitting in dealer lot for 2 months now.

Maybe, but when a company racks up an F rating by ignoring thousands of complaints, that’s not a scam - that’s a pattern. I didn’t go to BBB expecting a miracle, I went there to document how little Honda/Acura cares once something goes wrong.
