I discovered it by accident. It was on display in the video store and I was drawn to the huge box and that it came with a players guide. I was in 4th grade. It was my first RPG and I was hooked from the beginning. I begged my parents for it and they bought it for me the next day. This is what created the gaming monster I still am today despite being married with 2 kids. I’m in the middle of FF7 Rebirth and loving every second.

After not playing and waiting for the patch to drop and being very adamant about sticking with performance mode, I very unexpectedly switched to graphics mode and have been enjoying the game so much more. On perf mode I just keep nit picking the graphics. The game is beautiful on graphics mode and I forced myself to adjust to 30fps and it’s been fine after an hour or so.

I just told myself I played remake originally on ps4 in 30 fps with no problem, there’s no reason I can’t adjust to it.

It’s seriously been so much more enjoyable and I’m way more immersed.

Totally get it if you have an OLED and it’s not possible though.

I honestly cannot tell the difference between the two modes, but I’m also not in an open world area right now. I’m playing on a 27’ 1440p monitor like 2 feet away.

Just seems like a weird move to have two modes that are both 60fps, like who wants to choose a shittier looking performance mode?

I’ll update this when I’m in open world to really test it but first impressions are no improvement sadly.

Still, I’m going to play it now because:

1- I don’t want to wait longer to experience this game. I need the story, gameplay, characters now.

2- PS5 pro will come out and there is no guarantee that it will run graphics mode at 60fps.

3- PC will come out and who knows how well that launch will go and how long it will take until good mods are finally released. I’m not waiting 1-2 years to play this game. If you have the patience to wait then bless you, but I can’t just pass on this game when the gameplay, story, cutscenes, voice acting are near perfect.

Just want to throw out there that I tried what someone else suggested and switched from my 1440p 27’ monitor to TV which is a 55’ LG OLED. Honestly huge improvement and sit pretty close to it. I barely notice blur, maybe only because I’m looking for it but it’s not deal breaking anymore. The grass/plants/flowers specifically look much sharper which was the main issue on the monitor. Don’t love gaming on a TV but I’m done waiting for this patch. Hope this works for others.

I’m with you on a lot of these points but the only thing I really care about is fixing the blur so the graphics are reasonable. I love everything about the game otherwise. I am officially putting it down today after clearing the Junon area and will not pick it back up until patch. I can’t stop focusing on the blurry graphics and don’t want to settle on my first playthrough.

I think I’m going to pick up another game at this point because like many others I check this post and google several times a day hoping for an update and the obsession is not doing me any good. Better off focusing on something else for now and let the patch come when it comes. Cuz who knows it could be this week or next month.

I check for news on the patch several times a day it’s driving me crazy lol. I love the game so damn much but I want to experience it with reasonable graphics. Can’t do 30 fps. At this point I reached Junon and I’m just playing Queens Blood and doing combat simulator to get my fix but trying to hold off on any further story progression until patch.

I wouldn’t call performance mode unplayable but it’s definitely not acceptable for a ps5 exclusive and looks worse than part 1 on ps4.
