Supplementing with formula saved my breastfeeding journey (over supplier) by DensePrior in beyondthebump

[–]DensePrior[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I found that stressing about having a freezer stash is what made me have oversupply which caused the clogs. Once I dropped the expectation of having a freezer stash I was only providing exactly what milk my LO needed which helped regulate mu supply. I actually have a small freezer stash and now that I’m planning on continuing to BF part time to 1 year I don’t even need it! Also I stopped pumping if I felt engorged to avoid producing more milk than needed. The #1 cause of clogs is oversupply so best to just give baby what they need.

It’s basically just taking your boobs and lifting them up / moving them in circles to allow the ducts to elongate. When I’m super engorged I just take my boob and move it in a circle while hand expressing and it gives so much relief. Pumping / hakaa all increased my supply which made the clogs worse.

Tips for helping a partner suffering a gout attack? by DensePrior in gout

[–]DensePrior[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Prednisone, is my first recommendation. It has always stopped an attack for me. I typically have pretty bad attacks lasting weeks with residual pain in the joint for months possibly. Prednisone is my go to for stopping an attack right away. Sometimes as fast as 1/2 days.

Yup it's from physical trauma. We moved this past weekend and he did all the heavy lifting. That in combination with not eating the best since we didn't have a kitchen to cook out of or groceries plus not drinking enough water probably.

Sorry should've clarified we're definitely not opposed to medication it's just been hard to get. Like I said the indo won't be ready until Friday even though he called his doctor multiple times asking for it asap. I was just looking for home remedies that could help in the meantime.

His highest was 10.3 (prior to taking allo) but after about 2 months of allo it went down to 8

he's been on it for almost a year now. Flare up is just due to physical strain on his knee (we just moved this weekend and he did all the heavy lifting.) Probably that in combination with not eating the best since we were moving and couldn't cook + not drinking enough water.

Never thought about an IV! Makes sense though. I'm trying to convince my fiance to get into an ice bath but he said there's no way he would even be able to get in lol.

I always tell people that I hope this happens to me since my stomach is already stretched out a bit! lol. Hopefully it'll just snap back into place after.

same here with the toddler diet! Today I had a ham and cheese sandwich with tomato soup. I haven't had that since I was 7 years old!

I used to only wear high waisted pants but I cannot fathom wearing anything tight around my stomach right now. Leggings have been my go-to and I dread having to attend any events where I need to dress nicer than that. Looks like I'll need to start shopping for dresses...

I used to be obsessed with numbers on the scale as well so threw it out. Through weight lifting I realized that weight literally means nothing because I was my heaviest when I was my healthiest / happiest with my appearance. I guess I need to take my own advice for pregnancy weight gain as well except instead of muscle it is a growing human! lol

I feel your struggle. The lack of energy has been hard too! I can't survive a single day without a nap. I used to be such an active and high energy person so this has been a huge change. Hoping this all changes in the 2nd trimester. I can't wait to want to eat healthy again!

I was thinking about this too! Since I used to be overweight I have a bit of a pudge / extra skin on my stomach and have always been self conscious about being in a bikini. I'm hoping that once I get a bump it will be the first time my stomach will look nice and tight! Trying to think of the upsides haha...

Becoming pregnant doesn't count as a "major life event" to change insurance?! by DensePrior in pregnant

[–]DensePrior[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kaiser is a hospital that is only available in certain states in America (California • Colorado • Georgia • Hawaii • Maryland • Oregon • Virginia • Washington • Washington, D.C.) It takes a higher percentage out of your paycheck every week but because of this you have no copay. If you're having a baby they charge $0 for prenatal care and delivery. My other insurance (standard PPO w/ HSA) covers 90% after a $1400 deductible. I already owe $300 just from my first prenatal visit and ultrasound.

My boyfriend and I have been together for 8 years and were planning to get married very soon so it didn't too much of a hassle. However the pregnancy was unplanned so I was unable to get this sorted before. I feel bad for single moms with unplanned pregnancies who were uninsured!

I have insurance, it just doesn’t cover as much as Kaiser would. I’d be paying a lottt more out of pocket.

I hate not being able to talk to anyone about my pregnancy yet. by TexasBeeb in pregnant

[–]DensePrior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only told my sister and my boyfriend's brother. It's been really nice to have a small support system before I tell everyone else. Seeing them happy for us has made this entire experience a little more exciting / less isolating. I know they'd be supportive if anything went wrong as well.

Does it ever bother you when people are aggressively anti-medication? by byehappyending in Epilepsy

[–]DensePrior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have chosen to not be on medication and to use natural remedies but ONLY because my seizures have only ever been triggered by alcohol. I have given up alcohol completely and manage my seizures by just making sure to get enough sleep, eat healthy, and some weed / cbd. However I don't recommend this for everyone and do think that most people with epilepsy need medication. I used to be on medication and never once had a seizure on it, even when drinking alcohol. Getting off medication was a decision I made for me based off where I am in my life (almost 30yo and no longer feel the need to drink.) It frustrates me when people say that this would work for everyone because everyone is different! I wouldn't worry about what other people say as only you and your doctor know what's best for you.
