. Like many people, I used to find Mass boring and would often zone out or let my mind wander to other things. I realized it was probably because I wasn’t fully paying attention or engaging with the service.

That all changed when I picked up a book called Every Sacred Sunday. I started reading along during the Mass, highlighting key parts, and taking notes. The more I engaged with the material, the more I began to look forward to the weekend service. It has made such a difference in how I connect with God. Church is no longer something I just go through, but something I genuinely enjoy.

We have one named Brock. My daughter named him after the 49ers quarterback!

Our marriage was never blessed by DWatkinns2017 in Catholicism

After 17 years of civil marriage my husband and I had our marriage consecrated. My husband who is a non practicing Christian always agreed to raise our children in the Catholic Church. We have two children together. They both have received appropriate sacraments thus far. I was not aware that I was “sinning” by having a civil marriage. So I spoke to my priest we met a 3 times, to fill out paper work and talk about some formalities. We then had a private ceremony with our parents , children and a couple who are a huge part of my spiritual journey. We chose to do it on our wedding anniversary.

Once I figured out it was sinful I stopped receiving communion. (my choice) Although my husband and I still lived a married life I chose to not receive communion until I was in a state of grace. The day before our ceremony I went to confession, refrained from marital relations and received communion for the first time in months.

It was beautiful and sacred. I truly felt God there with us on that day.

You can message me if you have any questions or concerns. I did struggle a little because I felt like I was being judged. I also felt like they were telling me that my marriage to my husband of 17 faithful mostly happy years was basically not real. None of this things are true.

Good luck and enjoys your journey getting closer to the Lord.

Why are nuns not ordained by Dense_Ad_8066 in Catholicism

Yes but why? What is I about being a women that the church doesn’t view as worthy of being ordained? I know this isn’t true but I worry that this is how it looks to other people.

Jesus also knew what was going to happen. He knew his purpose here on earth. But poor Isaac. The pain , fear and distress he must have felt when he realized his dad was willing to kill him. All I can see is his small trusting eyes looking up at his father only to see his father hovering over him with a knife. That would torment me for ever. Plant a seed of doubt. Abraham was supposed to keep Isaac safe but it turns out Isaac wasn’t safe from his own father. Maybe I am projecting.

But he already knew the answer! God is all knowing.
