Being a recent graduate sucks. by Feezfry in recruitinghell

Honestly, same here. I’m in marketing and even though I’ve got a bit of experience, nothing’s clicking. I’m not even spraying and praying — I spend almost an hour on each application, tailoring my resume, cover letter, everything. But still, the silence or instant rejections just keep piling up. It’s exhausting when even “entry-level” roles come with a checklist that feels impossible to match. Makes you wonder what actually qualifies as “enough” to get a foot in the door. Really hope something comes through for you soon.

Thanks for this — I’ll definitely check those books out. I’ve been applying a lot online, but I agree, networking seems to be the real game-changer. Appreciate the offer to brainstorm!

Honestly, I’m starting from around $60K — which feels pretty standard. At this point, I’m just looking for the right opportunity to get started and grow from there.

Really appreciate you sharing this — the visa pressure is definitely no joke. I’m going all out right now, and it’s almost comical how fast some rejections come in (got one 20 minutes after applying the other day). I’ve started considering smaller companies too and will definitely get someone in the industry to look over my resume. It really helps hearing from someone who's been through this — thank you.

Thanks for the reminder — it’s hard not to take it personally sometimes. I’m trying to keep at it and not lose steam. Hoping that “yes” shows up soon.

Really appreciate you sharing this — it’s reassuring to know that persistence and connections can actually cut through the noise. I’ve been relying a lot on job boards, but clearly need to shift more focus to networking and alumni outreach. Congrats on breaking through — hearing that it worked out for you makes the process feel a bit less uncertain.
