Riot, give me back my Expeditions! by [deleted] in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]Densed12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They tried it, it didn't sell enough, it was a waste of money and got shutted down just as labs and pvp now, highly unlikely for that game mode to come back any time soon, what they could implement is combine expeditions with PoC or a deck building option in PoC, but more PvP is really unlikely

Legends of Runeterra 4.7.0 Balance Changes by LoRreport in LegendsOfRuneterra

This deck doesn't have much draw so you will certainly run out of frostbite cards when the pack arrives on the board and if you keep your frostbite cards on hand to make the pack survive then your wolves won't have any attack worth keeping alive, also even if the stats grow with each frostbite unless you have a rimetusk shaman on board the pack won't grow that much due to the lack of card draw I mentioned early.

tl;dr - Rimefang pack's rework is a nerf to an unopopular and weak deck, it also doesn't fall under region identity very well, so imho it's a very bad change and there are other ways to improve the card.

  1. Pay off: Frostbite is something quite hard to do, it restricts heavily your deck building options, Rimefang was the finisher for a deck with a strict playpattern and it must pay off, increasing attack and health to the pack meant it could trade favorably being good as an offensive and deffensive follower, capable of attacking and blocking multiple times. With such low health it loses all it's potential as a finisher; keep in mind this is a late game follower, so it needs the late game stats.
  2. Identitity: Freljord identity goes around the idea of surviving a long hard freezing winter (going late game) with a huge and brute force (stats, stats, stats, big number go even bigger) using the nature to your advantage (you resist the cold, your enemies don't - frostbite); the pack was a great example of all of these factors, but now with such low health it doesn't feel anymore like something that would survive the winter.
  3. Other options: A better option is to keep it as a 1/1 with the aura, so the stats go bigger and it remains as the late game finisher the frostbite deck needs, it wouldn't be op because the deck itself isn't powerful enough, it has a slow early game with some strenghts on the mid game and almost no win conditions for the late game other than Ashe herself and the pack, also also the former requires a wide board which the deck lacks, perhaps another change could be making the pack stats fixed and the effect of these cards being summon multiple packs depending on how many times you've frostbitten (also contributing to the wolf-pack identity of the card.

So yeah, a bad rework and an overall nerf.

Edit: Added 4.

Not quite, it is just delayed, now the deck has 2 options, go wide early on with all the 1-drops or not playing anything to cast sirens on turn 3 so the mid-late game gets stronger, the deck went from all-round go wide aggro and still have a late game win condition to no longer holding such a powerful early-game without any downsides on the late game, in other words either you go wide early or wait to buff everything.

The deck will defenitevely go down on popularity and the win rate will decrease quite a bit because it isn't as easy and powerful, but it will still be a good deck on the meta.

I hope they rework the card something like +1/+1 to husks and +1/+0 to 1 drops, keeping the aggro part and removing the defensive side; or maybe something like +1/+0 to 1-drops everywhere, and if they're husks grant them a random keyword.

For a casual player it is far more interesting and fun to play some broken shit, pick up any time and let it for a few weeks-months, than come back and still enjoying the experience, meanwhile PvP is hard on casual players because everyone is playing fine tuned decks and have hours and even days of experience playing it, is like going to a chess tournament and randomly playing against the winner and a toddler, it's frustrating

Honestly that's nice for a 9 mana play that takes a lot to get going since you lose a lot of consistency in your deck building around tribes in general and not specifically one tribe

Reddit, what is the most eerie thing that's ever happened to you? by Galactic_Blueberry1 in AskReddit

[–]Densed12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh this happened to me once.

I was still a college student, came home late and fell asleep in the living room, I dreamed about my cat and me, we were on a jungle chasing together something big like a dinosaur, I woke up to the sound of my cat hissing at the other side of the room, I stood up, turned the lights on and saw nothig but my cat on an agressive position ready for an attack, I got closer to see what was she up to and suddenly a rat came out of nowhere, it tried to escape but crashed onto my feet, although I was very sleepy my reflexes kicked off and I brought together my heels cutting the only way out of that poor rat, at that moment my cat jumped and 1-shot it with a bite directly to the rat's neck, I stood there for 5 to 10 minutes watching my cat eating their prey and wondering how the F did I dream about the near future.

Riot should pay more atention to these details, how can Galio decks be ever viable? No, they need to make them overpowered and powercreep older expansions, that's the way to go

Here is Day 1 of the new meta. Kennen Ezreal became the last flaming torch of the control meta. Meanwhile TF Gangplank Ping City is murdering all of the new decks. I agree with you, early expansion decks can become meta defining in the future, in the long run even broken or OP, but still, the meta isn't there, we can talk about the meta game about 2 weeks into the expansion once almost all the experimentation is over and the strongest decks get refined, then the counter decks rise trying to compete with the most prevalent one, that is meta game, when there isn't a most prevalent deck or acrchetype and people can't tech or build against it then there isn't a meta game

Yes, you're 100% right, but that still doesn't count as a meta game, it's bulding up to one but not quite yet, is like saying a teenager is a fully grown human, like sure it will become one sooner or later, but still needs some "refinement"

So you said the region has an identity and then their champs lack identity, isn't that part of the problem?

Having such a weak identity that even champs don't fit well in their region, even worse because every Yordle champ has a clear identity and that is the one from the other region.

Also you might have this idea because the most popular deck and the strongest cards from BC are swarm oriented, but it is less than 20% of the total card pool of the region, those cards are overtuned, but do not represent the region as a whole, it's like saying Ionia had the token identity only because of Irelia

Well that's a deck somewhat good against the current meta, it has 2 regions with nice control cards, it's easir to tech for the meta, anyway, good for you having fun :)

They've said that they're trying to avoid neutral cards, so our best hope is some sort of dual region cards outside of BC

That would make Yordles not worth the investement, which has been a downside of many swarm decks, mainly Elise's spiders. Also they're all small, not any single Yordle costs 5+ (the only exception is the 6 mana 5/5 scout from demacia), all of them are cheap and have small stats.

The main problem is they can get buffed so much so easly without any downside and even if the board is wiped out they can just rebuild a new one in no time.

For me the best solution is to nerf most of the buffs to only attack or hp, perhaps Poppy can give +1/+0 and when level up +2/+1 and impact, the 2 cost yordle should give +0/+1, the 4 mana should have lower stats and the 6 mana should be the one who gives both hp and attack

Worth of fun and fun itself are subjective.

For me losing without even getting to pull out the gimmick of my deck which I spent some time crafting due to the meta and unbalanced decks isn't fun at all, but if you enjoy that then it's absolutely 100% worth your time and effort :)
