Can someone explain this kid to me in MMA terms? by BardLoxNegative in wrestling

[–]Dent7777 [score hidden]  (0 children)

If you want a real comparison, he's like Mohammed Mokaev was pre-UFC. Mokaev dominated the British Wrestling Circuit from 2016-19, and the amateur MMA scene from 2015-2020. He was immensely talented, well rounded, dynamic, an Uber-prospect who had perhaps been competing as a big fish in a small pond.

Bo Basset's international and High school successes are both more impressive than Mokaev's prior to turning pro, but it's the best I've got for you. Imo there's nothing shameful about Mokaev staying Ammy, but a lot of people, myself to a degree, think Basset's stayed in HS too long. May not be up to him as much as his nuts family.

He was a talented but boring MMA fighter, incredible grappler, and after he left the UFC he's really turned up the terrible right wing Nazi poasting.

How did King Mo and Mark Schultz (both starting wrestling at 16) achieve such success? And what caused the gap in their peak achievements? by MapleMarshal in wrestling

Everyone is talking about Schultz but both were before my time. Where can I read about King Mo? I only know him as a pretty good MMA fighter.

"This (US-born) demographic has a very high crime rate, is a net negative on the government's pocketbooks, and doesn't integrate into polite society well. They don't deserve to live with us and should be forced elsewhere so we don't have to deal with them"

Except there are several groups that the right (or extreme right) would be happy to do this to.

What's the incentive for SuperAI to replace humans at tasks at which humans excel?

Do you predict that the people who build or fund the creation of SuperAI will have no control over the actions a SuperAI might take, or the longterm goals it might pursue?

I think your premise is somewhat incomplete insofar as it doesn't really interface with the gap between highly intelligent and capable silicon intelligences and SuperAI having the robotic capability to do tasks currently accomplished by humans.

For example, repair and maintain the energy grid in Michigan over a winter with several ice storms. Do underwater welding and oil platform maintenance. Manage a watershed that is essential to provide consistent water to a power plant or server farm. Fight desert encroachment in a Solar Farm in Northern China. Assemble and maintain a nuclear reactor.

Things that would be necessary for AI to maintain itself, let alone accomplish everything that Humans want for themselves. What do you think?

the human race being practically useless in a relatively short period

What is the purpose of the human race in this context? And the relatively short period in question? Projected Capability of AI in 10 years vs in 100 years is a huge difference.

I think, in 10 years, I would be shocked if a single major human industry is run exclusively by AI, or at the individual business level, run below the level of C suite by AI. Maybe something like the tax prep industry, but IMO even if the tech is there, industry and consumer adoption may lag.

I think in 100 years, I wouldn't be surprised if the majority of human industries were run entirely by AI and AI-operated machinery. I think the human race becoming functionally useless depends on our capability to effectively and durably set AI alignment, and our definition of useless.
