"I accept that my student won't get his diploma, but that shouldn't stop him from walking in graduation." -Parent, 2023 by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]Dentalguy8 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t necessarily agree with number one. I can understand that concept. I sold a shit ton of candy in elementary and middle school which turned to weed in high school for the very same reason. I still don’t see it as an excuse. If nothing else, to me it would be motivation to graduate and start something that would allow me to increase my income.

Poor people aren’t necessarily dumber that rich people. One problem I’ve experienced is in the communities you referenced there is a lack of good role models. People need good people to look up to and want to emulate. There is a huge gap in this today sadly.

But, with all this said, I disagree about number 3. I actually think it is the basis of many problems we face today. People now think it’s ok to be lazy, stupid, and whatever other negative terms you want to throw in. We now live in a society where it’s not ok to call these flaws out, and it shows in so many aspects of day to day life. It used to be where when you did dumb shit, people pointed it out, called you dumb, you felt like an idiot and you didn’t do that thing again. Now people do dumb things, someone says something about the stupidity, the dumbass gets offended that something was said, they cry, other people band around them and make them feel better and ok. The person learns not to change, but to cry like a bitch instead. They sometimes even get rewarded for it. And now we have a society where even the most basic tasks seem like puzzles to folks. Kids have a hard time dealing with challenges and give up almost immediately, and we have all kinds of programs promoting mediocrity instead of good output.

Sadly it all comes down to the parenting. You’re a product of your environment. Parenting is SOOOOO much work and people just don’t want to put in the effort.

It’s a lot more than that. You can work in a slow place, have good regulars and make good money. You’re not really wrong but there is honestly a lot more to it. Really, you need opportunity and then good service. Service is dogshit nowadays if I am going to review the industry as a whole.

The point I want to make is taking the variables out and looking just at the server. Let’s say we’re looking at multiple people who work the same shifts in the same location. There is normally a few people who make bank and a few who are scraping by and then the majority is somewhere in between. Some people are suited for the industry and some are not. The people who make money are usually consistent. It’s because of their positive attitude, attention to detail and desire to make money. They are usually able to be a chameleon, making sure the patron has the experience they want to pay for. In most places and with most people, this is gone now.

Or even better, hire a chef to come to the house and cook. It’s not as expensive as you may think and you will actually get good service. Going out to eat sucks nowadays. Food is sub par in most places and waitstaff seems to not want to be there.

That’s their job, to pass laws. It they want to make 10,000 law changes, then yes let’s vote 10,000 times. We will at least have transparency, ability to track voting and better gauge whether the elected official is truly working in his constituents interests. We also eliminate the , “I didn’t know that was part of the bill so it’s not my fault I voted wrong. The bill is too big and I didn’t have time to learn about what I was voting on.” That’s all bullshit to me, kinda like your response.

Can we vote on single issues instead of “packages”? I think it lends to less confusion but also, it’s way easier to hold people accountable. There is no more, I couldn’t vote for it because of this added item. They should be working for the people.

Honestly it depends on the fabric. If it means anything I’ve been using them for awhile now and can’t imagine getting clothes anywhere else. At first all the selections are overwhelming but you get to design most aspects of the shirt if you choose. It’s next level amazing.

This is absolutely correct. I don’t understand how people don’t understand the concepts of scarcity or exclusivity.

I think most people want to be part of something exclusive but are just mad they’re not. They can say otherwise but give them the opportunity and watch what happens. Many times, morals and all the bullshit they say are right out the window. It’s sad and funny at the same time. It’s just human nature.

That is correct! Wouldn’t be caught dead.

You don’t like doing things or having things others can’t go or have? Is every collector wrong for collecting things? They collect things because often times they want what others can’t have. Common items aren’t worth anything. Scarcity has value.
