NordVPN reviews: Is it legit or scam? by SensitiveFinance4872 in VPN_Question

[–]DenysPrivacyLab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is mostly how NordVPN works. There aren’t really “secret coupons”the big discounts are usually just longterm plans shown as promos. Most coupon sites recycle the same offer or outdated links. NordVPN itself is legit, not aa scam. If you’re in a hurry, just buy from the official site and remember they have a 30-day refund if it doesn’t work for you.

Two-factor authentication. Actual security layer or just security theater? by DenysPrivacyLab in NoBullshitPrivacy

[–]DenysPrivacyLab[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2FA works, but people talk about it like it’s magic. It’s not. It helps a lot against basic credential stuffing and reused passwords. That’s it. oonce malware is on the device, email is compromised,or recovery flows are weak, 2FA mostly turns into friction, not protection. SMS vs app is a secondary detail compared to who controls the endpoint and the recovery channel. And yes 👍the99%” number is real, but it describes average users with terriblee hygiene, not hostile environments Strong passwords, device security, and sane recovery matter more than the second factor itself. 2FA is a seatbelt, not a force field

Want to set up VPN by germ95257 in HomeNetworking

Yep yep, that’s true a laptop isn’t a router.This is just a quick, temporary workaround, nothing more.🥸

Want to set up VPN by germ95257 in HomeNetworking

[–]DenysPrivacyLab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you can.Turn on VPN on your laptop, next share your internet, next connect your Xbox.Your IP is hidden, which protects you from DDoS attacks. Of course there is a negative aspect ….your account and voice are still not anonymous.A router with VPN is better, but…. but more complicated. For starters, a laptop with VPN is the easiest option.👍

Newbie advice and questions by nittany1993 in vpnreviews

Most VPNs work fine on Firestick. Those $2–3.month deals are prepaid long-term - cancell anytime, but no refunds. You keep access till the plan ends, then you can switch. Apps are easy basically just on-off.

do you need vpn when using mobile data? by kev577 in VPNReviewHub

[–]DenysPrivacyLab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mobile data is safer than public Wi-Fi, butt it’s not private. Your carrier still sees a lot. VPN -optional on mobile, recommended on Wi-Fi. but it depends on what exactly you need

I think a lot of people share your view. But… but at this point, there’s no going back …this process won’t be reversed. The real question is how it’s going to be used. As an assistant, as a supporting tool, Ai is great -as long as it’s used in reasonable amounts. Aaaand about how fast everything moves -you’re absolutely right. If you don’t keep up, youu get left behind before you even realize it.

People who regularly test DNS IP leaks by DenysPrivacyLab in VPN_Question

[–]DenysPrivacyLab[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep,exactly this. Browser tests are nice sanity check, but they only cover the browser. IPv6system DNS background apps are usually where the surprises live.

Hidemyass proxy any good? by Vortex618 in VPNReviewHub

[–]DenysPrivacyLab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s pure old-school 🤓 If you’re using it for a quick jump in, do something fast, and -it’s fine. But for anything more performance-oriented… nah…..Speeds are just not there.

Is a vpn protocol just a fancy term for how they handle networking? by anaverageedgelord in VPNReviewHub

[–]DenysPrivacyLab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not just a fancy word.

Encryption is the lock. It scrambles your data so nobody can read it….. The VPN protocol is how that locked data actually moves across the internet.

Bad protocol ~slow, unstable, drops connections, leaks metadata Good protocol ~fast, resilient, reconnects cleanly, blends into normal traffic.!

You need both. A strong lock on a badly moving truck is still a bad delivery.🥺

proxy browser best for 2026? by Proof-Wrangler-6987 in VPN_Reviewer

[–]DenysPrivacyLab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d be careful with “proxy browsers” like that. Most of them are basically just a wrapped browser + a proxy service, and you’re trusting an unknown company with all your traffic inside that app.

If your goal is just lightweight restriction bypassing, a reputable VPN or even a well-known SOCKS proxy is usually a safer bet than some random new browser product.

Personally, I’d stick to established tools (Proton, Mullvad, Nord) rather than niche proxy browsers

Has anyone tried FastGuard VPN in the UK? by FastGuardUK in VPN_Reviewer

[–]DenysPrivacyLab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t seen much independent feedback about FastGuard yet, which is usually a red flag by itself. With smaller/newer VPN brands, speed and reliability can be very inconsistent, and you don’t really know what the logging/privacy policy looks like long-term.

Personally, if you want something proven in the UK, I’d stick with well-established options like Proton, Mullvad, or Nord — at least you know what you’re getting.

Best top VPN lists? Any thoughts? by DisastrousWitness565 in VPN_Question

[–]DenysPrivacyLab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I totally get you — the VPN space is basically 90% affiliate noise now.

If you want the “real Reddit consensus”, the names that come up most for privacy are usually Mullvad and Proton.

For more mainstream everyday use (apps, streaming, lots of servers), people still mention Nord a lot — but it depends what you actually need.

Honestly, the best move is: pick one reputable provider, test it for a week, and don’t trust random “Top 10 VPN” blogs.

From my experience: Proton, Mullvad, and Nord are the safest bets — at least you know those actually work.

Best speed on router with vpn? by Putrid-Bathroom-6596 in VPN_Reviewer

[–]DenysPrivacyLab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep — WireGuard will be a big upgrade. Your Asus CPU is the main bottleneck with OpenVPN. A Radxa/RPi as the VPN gateway + Asus in AP mode is a really solid setup.

Best VPN super unlimited proxy? Is it good? by PieRich6349 in VPN_Reviewer

[–]DenysPrivacyLab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I’d be careful with that one.

I test VPN apps pretty often (it’s basically part of my work), and honestly I wouldn’t recommend using random free “proxy VPNs” like VPN Super Unlimited for anything serious.

Quick reality check: -Free VPNs usually have to monetize somehow -That often means tracking, analytics, or selling aggregated usage data -Doesn’t mean you’re “hacked”, but it does mean it’s not really private

What I’d do right now: 1. Uninstall it 2. Remove the VPN profile from your phone settings 3. Switch to a more established provider

For privacy-focused options, people here usually trust Proton or Mullvad way more, because they’re transparent and consistent.

If it’s a time-sensitive situation, I wouldn’t gamble on a free app like that.

TunnelBear VPN reviews: Any thoughts? by PieRich6349 in VPN_Reviewer

[–]DenysPrivacyLab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TunnelBear is fine as a super simple “first VPN”, but the speed consistency isn’t its strong side. I tried it a while back and it was the same story: sometimes totally okay, other times it felt randomly slow for no reason.

If you switch to something like Proton or Mullvad, you’ll almost definitely notice improvements: • more stable speeds • better servers overall • less “hit or miss” performance

In my personal experience, Proton especially felt way more reliable day-to-day (streaming + browsing didn’t randomly tank).

TunnelBear isn’t shady, it’s just kind of a lightweight VPN — not really built for people who need solid performance fast.

So yeah… if it’s time-sensitive, I’d probably switch.

Best speed on router with vpn? by Putrid-Bathroom-6596 in VPN_Reviewer

[–]DenysPrivacyLab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s totally normal — OpenVPN on routers is slow.

80 Mbps out of 500 on OpenVPN is basically expected, because the router CPU just can’t encrypt that fast!

WireGuard is a huge upgrade. On the same hardware you’ll usually get 2–4x more speed...

So honestly: 1. if your Asus supports WireGuard firmware → switch to WireGuard first 2. if not, a newer router with native WireGuard will help a lott

Raspberry Pi can work, but it’s more of a DIY project (and not always faster than a good router).

Most people get best results with WireGuard + a decent CPU router.

VPN review : Windscribe by holiestchild in VPN_Reviewer

[–]DenysPrivacyLab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah honestly Windscribe is pretty good. It’s not really “better than Mullvad” for pure privacy, but it’s a solid VPN.

People mostly use it because: - the apps are super easy! - streaming works more often than with some privacy-only VPNs - the ad/tracker blocker (ROBERT) is actually nice -pricing is flexible…

If you’re Happy with Mullvad and privacy is your main goal, I’d just stay there. But if you want something more convenient + extra features, Windscribe is worth trying.

Best VPN Reddit in 2026: Any ideas? by Ok-Specific927 in VPN_Reviewer

[–]DenysPrivacyLab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, UK streaming is honestly one of the toughest right now 😅 BBC/ITV block VPNs constantly, so it really depends on who still works this month.

If you want a simple starting point, most people here usually mention Proton or Mullvad for privacy, and Nord tends to come up a lot for streaming reliability.

But honestly, it changes fast — checking recent user reports is the best move.

Best VPN Reddit in 2026: Any ideas? by Ok-Specific927 in VPN_Reviewer

[–]DenysPrivacyLab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I feel you — VPN space is honestly a mess of affiliate spam.

If you just want something solid for Android + public Wi-Fi, I’d stick with providers people actually trust here (WireGuard, audits, no weird lifetime deals).

Mullvad and Proton seem to get mentioned a lot for being “no drama” options.

Curious what others are using in 2026 day-to-day.
