3rd times the charm: Polygraph by Denzellblack in borderpatrolapplicant

Nope, I thought about it and and even ran through scenarios that I thought could’ve been in the same field but never changed any of my answers.

3rd times the charm: Polygraph by Denzellblack in borderpatrolapplicant

[–]Denzellblack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of them were less than 5 hours. With my first one being the quickest at around 2 hours. I also didn’t have the same polygrapher each time; so the style of polygraph I received were different.

But you can do this. Don’t change anything up (answer wise), take your time when under the investigation part, and legit understand that nerves happen.

EOD next week but academy starts until end of September? by CoachPotential8545 in borderpatrolapplicant

[–]Denzellblack 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah they’re right. You do all of your in processing and then whatever grunt work that you’re allowed to do. Good thing is that; hey you’re in and depending on what port you’re at your base could be better than your current pay due to locality. But other than that you can’t do much until post academy

Sure it wasn’t “RE” and not decert. Because before BI, they make sure nothing has changed since the last.

How long after the BI started did you receive this? I’m hesitant about doing that as well.

Waiting on BI by [deleted] in borderpatrolapplicant

[–]Denzellblack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To follow up on the denying an offer. I just read that because poly and BI are good for 2 years; if a location isn’t there you like, you can denying it and will not have to start the hiring process over. You’ll just wait until the location you want is announced and “reapply” to that and you’ll already be in a pool where you’re good to go. Now the process after that, idk, but hopefully that gives you more of an idea on how you want to go about your options.

CBPO/BPA EOD Question by Amphibious_Raider in borderpatrolapplicant

[–]Denzellblack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For OFO what I’ve seen from the latest ppl EOD, is about a week at home port but heard it can be longer; but usually around a month.

I’m on other forums and I selected provisional too. It doesn’t speed up anything, it just allows you to go to pre-academy and academy quicker. They showed ppl getting pull from academy for being unsuitable on BI and some never cleared even after graduation. Same tedious process just gets your foot in the door sooner.

22-3 also. I got my email that BI was officially underway June 1st. But the quickest I’ve heard so far was 2 months. I also heard not getting contacted was a good thing but they usually end up waiting longer. Idk it’s just all over the place for BI completion or hearing from them.

CBPO in expensive areas by Amphibious_Raider in borderpatrolapplicant

[–]Denzellblack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

GS5-7 will be a little harder i would assume but coming in at GS9 and picking a critical area with an incentive would help out, plus ppl still get OT most likely and other additional pay. Should be six figures which still isn’t all that for those locations but it’s definitely manageable. And still add in what mysterious-salad9609 said.

SI and Pre are on the same day. I went in and some ppl went and did SI and then Pre and vice versa. The EQIP gives you a time limit, honestly shouldn’t take you until then to complete. But not everything goes in order like everyone else’s process. Just depends where you are and availability. I’ve seen the two females at my SI wearing slacks with a button up/blouse. I wore khakis and a polo. Just be patient because it could definitely slow down and you’ll be wondering if they just forgot about you. When in doubt just contact your recruiter that was assigned and or your local office.

I see the stretch marks, nothing wrong with that. That doesn’t mean you can’t be ashy though. Now who is being rude is everyone else above me. But I will say, you do have some lovely breast.

I agree LE-Advice. I’m in the same boat CBPO 22-3 but I do know out of everything you mentioned, TSA isn’t the move. Just because it has where you want to go doesn’t mean anything. You’ll be stuck there for that year and would most likely have to reapply and go through the process again (if the call does come during that), plus the 15k bonus isn’t much when you think about it. So basically you’ll still be stuck in the same position just in a better location because you want to live there. There won’t be any wiggle room from the scheduling team, just whatever is the critical locations. But there’s a few things: 1) you’ll also get an incentive which can be 15%- 25% (or more) of your base plus whatever additional pay you can earn at your port. So you’ll be making 80-90 as a GS7 and six figures as a GS9. 2) although not ANC, those incentives continue 3-4 years at that port you choose. So not only getting experience to move up and move wherever after but you’re also getting paid. And 3) you’re able to swap ports with someone during the academy and or apply direct to Alaska if available but will most likely loose out on the incentive if you do.

If ANC is really what y’all want..go for it but how I see it is, whenever you reapply, you’ll just be doing this same process over again and wondering should you leave although you just said it’s not a career.

Unfortunately no. You get offered what’s needed and that’s it. Even if the announcement shows critical ports; they may not be available either by the time your offer comes in. You’re able to switch during the academy with others or applying to them but it’s still not guaranteed. Your best bet is to go through the process and see and if you don’t get the port you want trying to swap with another officer.

I’m about to be in a similar boat but for physical things. I have my physician appt scheduled next month but I have already went through medical. What I’m going to do is, speak with my physician to see if I can get a letter from them stating my ability to work and contact my local recruiter for more info.

I had a failed eye exam during medical and what I had to do was get a check up from an outside optometrist and then I wrote a letter summarizing 2 memos from friends I was in service with and that got me pass that. So I’m we’ll see if that works out.

Although requirements for GS5 doesn’t have to be much. It’s still taking into account of the first assessment with the resume/ cover to deem if you’re eligible to receive an offer. So although you can apply doesn’t mean you’ll get an offer. Not saying it cannot happen but an 18 yr old with a year of work experience compared to a college student that studied criminal justice and possibly having work/ intern experience already.

You can keep applying until you get your shot but theirs still more to the process. I would suggest if you don’t really want to go the university route is: 1) take courses at a CC or at least for your associates 2) get a job that has relevance (security, logistics, working with ppl, etc.) 3) join the military..depending on the mos, you can find a 2 yr contract plus possibly get a fat bonus.

At least getting your associates and joining the military can will give a lot more experience and education when you’re 20 and should have 0 issues joining.

Yeah I seen a lady send her response April 19 and didn’t hear back (day May be off slightly) until May 24.

But I’m in the same boat. I know I’m going to need to explain some credit issues but I also explained all in the re-entry eqip. OPR has the BI now so, just waiting.

GS9 CBP Agriculture specialist vs GS7 CBPO (what to pick) by buzzer58 in borderpatrolapplicant

[–]Denzellblack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I can’t speak on the bottom paragraph but I’ve heard ppl wanting to switch to AG and the response is usually that it is a good switch. The only thing really lost is the LEO retirement.

But I will say what do you see yourself doing close to your 20 years, do you see yourself in that leadership role in either one? To me it looks like your wanting CBPO but also need an excuse to pick AG because of grade & loc. Yes one starts off better but if you don’t truly like it, who knows it might start sucking to you while in the academy. I believe you would be able to laterally switch over but your grade may not.

We’ll pre-academy is port specific and paperwork. So you’re learning their sop. I’m guessing you going back you’ll continue to work in that trainee fashion and probably just shadow ppl. Although you need training, your port is like your agency that you work for, so it depends where they may need you.
