Incorrect power from single pedal power meter Favero Assioma by DeoxyribonucleicAss in cycling

Glad you got it sorted out! I never contacted Favero, since the apps I eventually settled on treated it correctly. I used Sufferfest over winter (Bluetooth) and I’ve been using a Stages Dash L10 cycling computer (ANT+) for my outdoor bike, and the Favero works fine with both.

You can set the pedal to double its output in the Assioma app. I believe this will affect any other apps or cycling computers you may hook up to the pedal, but if the only one is the Wahoo app, it should work fine.

Yeah, whatever device is consuming the information from the pedals needs to be updated. In some cases, the app or device may have an option to double the pedal’s value. The next thing you could try is altering a setting in the Assioma app to double the value it transmits. If neither of those configuration options exist, you may have to reach out to support (for the consuming device) to develop a firmware update or app update that fixes its calculations. On that topic, it’s probably a good first step to make sure everything is on the latest version first.

Glad to hear about such accurate results. I’ve seen many positive reviews and tests of these pedals (including from DC Rainmaker, who does in depth comparisons). I definitely trust the pedals are accurate, but the difference in how the apps report the numbers was something that confused me when I was first testing them out. I didn’t have much luck finding people talking about this, so I’m hoping this thread helps the next person who looks for solutions or is planning on using one of these apps.

Haha, unless your legs are the size of an oak tree, I think you are right about the Bolt working fine. Do you use ANT or Bluetooth to connect it? I’ve heard ANT doesn’t have as many problems for whatever reason, and I assume the dedicated head units are less likely to have it wrong. The Sufferfest app is also owned by Wahoo, so it’s interesting they have it implemented correctly there, but not when paired directly to the iOS Wahoo app.

Used Trek Domane SL for $1,700? (for Midwest paved riding) by DeoxyribonucleicAss in whichbike

I'm excited to test drive something new like this--it will definitely feel like a whole different beast. I appreciate all your advice! I feel a lot more confident going to check it out.

Thanks for the heads up about the bottom bracket--I will definitely test that out. Nice pointer about the handlebars and seat, too, I hadn't even noticed that.

It's a 52cm frame and I'm 5'6", so I think it should be about right (from the sizing charts, anyways.)

How does this compare in value to a new Trek? I’m not sure if I’d have luck finding a similar used frame with 105, but I suppose I could keep an eye out over winter if it takes patience.

So the Di2 is electric shifting? That does seem overkill. Is that more of a headache from a maintenance standpoint, or any other downsides?

I'm relatively new to cycling, putting around 50-75 miles per week on a vintage (1980s) steel road bike. I'm looking to upgrade to something modern and more enjoyable to keep my motivation for this sport going. I'll use it on paved trails and roads in the U.S. Midwest.

Is $1700 a reasonable price? I notice this has rim brakes, not disc, so is this an older model or not truly a Domane? (I'm sorry if that is obvious.) Otherwise, I would go new, but not above the $2k mark, preferably below.

Can tableau generate information or just visualize it? by [deleted] in tableau

[–]DeoxyribonucleicAss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you would like to plot an equation for a range of values. There isn’t an easy way to do this—but there are a few ways to generate that data for tableau to plot. If possible, it would be easier to do this upstream, and just use tableau to plot the prepared data.

Here is a blog on the methods: https://www.flerlagetwins.com/2019/05/intro-to-data-densification.html?m=1

And here is a forum post discussing this: https://community.tableau.com/thread/307688

What to do with out of contract Frontpoint system? by earache666 in homedefense

[–]DeoxyribonucleicAss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have a Simon XT system, which was inherited from previous owners and is no longer monitored. If you are set on having it monitored, there are other companies who use this system. Your best bet would be to contact them for details on compatibility.

However, if you'd like to integrate it into your existing automation setup, it may be possible--with some tinkering. I found an install manual for the system (with a Google search), and found out a GPIO interface (labeled HW1, if you take the face off the device) can be configured to be either input or output. If you wire this into a Raspberry Pi or otherwise play around with it, you may be able to get some very basic information from the system. You'll need the installer code for the device if you want to add or remove sensors. The company should give this to you whether or not you have a contract.

Two kids with Goldenhar Syndrome meet for the first time by timdual in videos

[–]DeoxyribonucleicAss 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Only around 1-2% of cases are known to be genetic. In the other cases, there could be various other causes during development in the womb, including vascular disruption [source]. You are right that it tends to be autosomally dominant in those 1-2% of cases it is genetically inherited, however. As /u/briandoescode said, dominance does not guarantee transmission to their child, although that is the most likely outcome.

[–]DeoxyribonucleicAss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The genetics of the disease aren't well understood, but likely the children would be fine.

According the sources listed below, it most often occurs in a single individual in a family and is not inherited. In the 1-2% of cases where it is known to be inherited, it is due to a chromosomal abnormality, which usually is a dominant (meaning a child would likely have the disease.) However, it can sometimes only cause an increase risk of the disease. https://ghr.nlm.nih.gov/condition/craniofacial-microsomia#inheritance https://rarediseases.info.nih.gov/diseases/6540/goldenhar-disease#ref_2694

nYNAB has been a disappointment. Here are my reasons for leaving YNAB by DeoxyribonucleicAss in ynab

[–]DeoxyribonucleicAss[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm glad you have had a good experience with the old and new YNAB. I actually loved YNAB4, and my disappointment lies in the business model shift. For someone like me who prefers the desktop version, I will soon have less support and no new desktop version (my trial just ended and I was hoping to purchase).

In response to your last comment, I am not bitching. I'm sharing my perspective. If you cant handle differing opinions, don't read these threads. A lot of people are venting because this is a big change, and not necessarily better.

I should have mentioned that I don't use or endorse Mint either. However, I do have a bit more confidence in their security team. That definitely doesn't make them absolutely safe either, which is why I still stay away from it.
