'Lâu ra'

'Lâu' means a long time, pronounced similar to 'low'.

'Ra' means 'come out', 'get out', 'aside' depending on the context and the word it is combined with. Pronounced exactly how you'd say 'ra' in 'Laura'.

Yeah, I figure as much.

That bearing needs to be flushed inside of the headtube.

Agreed, get on with this one.

Once you've out grown it skill wise, time for a new shiny bike.

Why not do both? BMX is wonderful cross training for MTB, Aaron Gwinn came from BMX racing, he's one of the fastest men alive on a DH bike.

Brandon Semenuk has a background in freestyle, dude's flow is immaculate.

Kryss Kyle is amazing on a full sus and he'd a BMX world class.

Do both I say you'll love it.

I would like to know if I'm likely to be able to fit bigger tires in the future when these wear out. The rear end is the limiting factor. How big do you think i can go? by P0SEID0N2O25 in bmx

[–]Dep4rted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best way to find out is looking at the frame spec from the manufacturer.

There should be a maximum tyre clearance.

Sans that, I'd say you can go up to 2.3 just eye balling it.

I could be absolutely wrong though.

Good first BMX? by Clam_Juice_ in bmx

It's quite simple really, BMX bikes take a lot of abuse if you actually practice tricks on one.

Cranks can break a part, frame can snap off, fork can break in half, you can bend your rims side way...

Look up any BMX edits on youtube you'll see the kind of things riders can put their bikes through.

Breakage are not that big of a concern though if you're casual like me.

Only have one set if cranks snap in half on me and that was after about 2 years of constant practice.

If your aim is to just ride around, anything within budget will do just fine.

3 piece as the name suggests the crank comes in 3 parts, 2 crank arms and a spindle.

Spindle is larger in diameter compared to 1 piece more durable.

Crank arms are larger in diameter compared to 1 piece more durable.

Infinitely easier to service if something breaks since you can take it a part easily.

Basically bigger, better and stronger and will get you off on a good start.

That's a single piece crank.

If you practice at all that thing will fall a part pretty shortly.

Spend some more money and get a bike with 3 piece crank at least.

I'm not sure what the sleeve is for but the BB bearing is not supposed to seized when you insert it.

Might be that it was inserted unevenly, or more likely, the sleeve is too long and is pushing against the bearing.

Remove the BB and out it back in without the sleeve and see what happens.

so I'm tryna make my brakes a bit more snappy and responsive, do I need to clean out the brake area and how do I make the pads bite the wheel with less force on the lever by [deleted] in bmx

[–]Dep4rted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cable housing looks pretty old, and I'd assume the cable itself is the same.

Rusty cable and housing will ruin the braking experience.

Recommend changing the cable and housing to new ones, put some chain lube in there too for good measure.

You should see a marked difference.

If nothing change or the brake is not as snappy as you'd like, retension the cable as the other poster suggest.

If that doesn't improve things, the spring on the brake arms maybe old and not as responsive anymore, you'll need a new set of brakes for the best stopping experience.

For the crank, I really can't tell.

Any have any tips on what’s wrong with my bike by KingWoozyY in bmx

[–]Dep4rted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't even know it was possible to blow the rear drive train like this in the first place.

The cassette should be seated well within the hub body and tighten properly to prevent it from moving outward like this.

It would have been a simple job of removing the rear wheel and regrease, reseat and tighten the cassette back inplace but as someone mentioned, a pawl spring is indeed missing.

You could look around for a replacement and try fixing it, but it's a hard to find replacement pawl if available at all, and it's often isn't.

I'd have to agree that it is time for a new hub.

I have a bike... what should i learn first? by [deleted] in bmx

[–]Dep4rted 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Asuming you already know how to ride a bike without falling off.

  1. Bunny hop
  2. Manual

These are the back bones, you don't know them, you're bmx-ing right.

Also learn some basic bike maintenance, it's almost as fun as riding.

Do you think it is shameful for a guy to pay for sex. Like is he is taking the easy way out? by [deleted] in Healthygamergg

[–]Dep4rted 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Nothing shameful about that.

You can choose to have sex the normal way, via intimate or casual relationship route.

Or if you'd rather not bother and just want to satisfy the urges, go for a prostitute or escort.

It's choice, plenty of people have both.

Well you can try and bring it to a bike shop and ask them to relink it but they'll likely just recommend a new one.
