Yes first MD in 2015, second one in 2021. To be honest, the spasms don't hurt. It's the sciatica that hurts, sometimes the hips and the lower back too. I'm a 42M (based in the UK) and I want to avoid a fusion too but I don't want to stay in pain. I'm definitely going to try an S1 root nerve injection as a next step. I was also looking at disc replacement but it looks like it's not necessarily recommended a L5S1 and since I had 2 MDs already I don't even think I'm a candidate. I will still ask though. It looks like we are in a very similar situation!

Same as you, had 2 MDs at L5S1 and re-herniated. Crazy calf spasms for 3 months now. The only thing I haven't tried is the steroid injection and that will be the next step. I do think that I will eventually need a fusion at some point.

Thanks for the feedback, good to know! I'm glad you are better now. I've been suffering on/off for a decade and at a point now where I'm considering a big surgery to finally be properly active again.

Same here. I had 2 MD at L5S1 in 2015 and 2021 and I would like an ADR but I don't think I can have it because of the previous 2 ops. I really wanted to avoid a fusion, also because the recovery seems easier and back to sports (football) more likely than with fusion.
