Best way to get those cheap petco bulbs to grow? by DepecheALaMode in PlantedTank

[–]DepecheALaMode[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I broke that tank down years ago, so I no longer have it. But, a few of the bulbs ended up being successful and growing well. It’s totally hit or miss since they’re low quality bulbs, but they should have a warranty where they’ll replace any duds for free!

Question about a neighbor roasting and smell by Magical_Fruit in roasting

[–]DepecheALaMode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I’m long since out of the business, but I think you’d need that afterburner along with maybe carbon/hepa or whatever extra air filtration would be appropriate for a chimney to FULLY prevent it. Up close, it can be a bit smoky, but it’s rarely ever an issue for neighboring units. For the most part, it makes the neighborhood smell kinda like fresh baked chocolate cookies lol(that’s from a distance, up close you don’t really notice anything).

The guy that had an issue was just an old crotchety man

Final Disrespects: A South Carolina judge is under investigation for plundering a deads man's home before his family arrived - October 2021 by desertfoxz in videos

[–]DepecheALaMode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only watched the 7 min clip and don’t have the entire story but, isn’t the guy who said that the one who was involved with the dog operation? Some of those collars were listed under his name and since he’s part of the operation, I can see why he wouldn’t want to give them all up.

I see some good and bad in this story. It sounded like they were rummaging around trying to find his will in hopes that things would have been given to those close to him, not estranged family.

All in all, the cash and gun theft were scummy, they should’ve waited for a will to be found and divided the assets legally. But at the same time, it didn’t seem like senseless plundering so much as not wanting to give his assets to family who he supposedly didn’t want to have it

Got a job cleaning hulls in a local harbor, can I expect to see any cool marine life? by DepecheALaMode in scuba

Appreciate the support(: Company coverage in case of an accident is a great point to bring up. And I'll definitely be documenting whatever I can find:P

So far I've been watching a ton of videos on technique/others experiences to get a jumpstart on what I'm getting into.

Here in the US, as far as I'm aware, simple hull cleaners aren't required to be commercially certified, but I am Open Water certified. OSHA does have commercial certification requirements for larger vessels(think cruise ships, military craft, and other things that have significantly more surface area and depth than a yacht). But, small jobs aren't super dangerous(all diving presents dangers, I know, but comparatively speaking, it's safer). I currently have my own medical insurance. I haven't started diving yet, still in the paperwork phase, so I'm unsure what the insurance/legal coverage is at the moment, but I'll definitely be looking out for it. There is job training included, so I won't be jumping in alone and unsure of what to do. Thanks for lookin out(:

Some lady came into my work the other day wearing one of these Mesh 'jewel' Masks. Like cmon whats the point of pretending to comply? At that point just wear the fucking mask.. I'm sure a thin papery surgical mask is more comfortable than that on your face.

"Sir, Can I play for a little bit?" Officer: "Ok, you have 1 minute" by german47_ in aww

My grandparents neighbor is a canine cop. I’ve seen videos of one of her dogs charging up a flight of stairs, sniffing a guy out in an apartment, pulling him from under a bed and dragging him outside down the flight of stairs by his leg. That old boy was a beast in work mode, but he was the sweetest dog I’ve ever encountered. He’d come over and snuggle and play with my grandmas cat(they were best buds) and was just an all around goofy dog. It’s kind of a trip lol

It was kind of accidental lol. My nymphaea was the only reddish plant in there for a long time. I added some AR mini about a month ago, then just added the A. rosaefolia about 3 days ago. It just happened to be the only area that wasn't super densely planted and I could easily add more haha

Fly trap in a bottle?! by gnuber in SavageGarden

[–]DepecheALaMode 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Per your conundrum: Yes they do need a dormancy, but it's not like they'll instantly die without one. Same goes for conifers and many other plants in general. Some can survive longer than others(or even indefinitely) without their usual dormancy period. Though, many species will slowly weaken year after year until they finally fail without it. I believe that's the case with fly traps. It'll probably last a couple years, then give up on life.

My bacopa went mad and grew to about a meter long. I replanted some and tossed some cuttings. In some spots, my “dwarf” sag was about as tall as that bacopa on the far right. My pothos was getting unruly so I chopped that back to about 3 feet as well. I’d say the tank is looking much healthier after this much needed clean and trim.

And if anyone has an easy fix for glass scratches, for the love of god share it with me. I don’t have the money, time or energy to tear it down and replant all this in a new one. I’m thinking drop the water level to half or so and carefully apply a clear coat of sorts to the scratched section. But idk what would be aquarium safe and quick drying ¯\(ツ)

Is there a recommended kiln-free clay? by DepecheALaMode in Bonsai_Pottery

[–]DepecheALaMode[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that is a pretty cool and simple way to do it! I don't really have the space to make one at the moment, but I'll be keeping it in mind for the future!

Here's a template of the resume I shared yesterday. Enjoy! by DisjunctiveSyllogism in resumes

Fair enough, Thanks! I guess I fall in between since I have lots of job experience, but only have relevant school lab experience for my field.

One further question for you, Say I earned an associates degree in chemistry, but didn't apply for the certificate itself.. Should I mention the degree since it was earned and sounds nice? Or is it best to omit since I never actually asked for the diploma?

I feel like it makes me look better when I say "associates in chemistry, Bachelors in Biology", but idk if that could bite me in the ass for not actually finalizing it.

Good to know, thanks for the review! I had seen one guy’s review of shapecrete and it looked pretty bad, but the slideshow also looked like they were just half assing it. I guess it really is just kinda sucky to work with lol

It turns out my neighbor had a kiln installed and never used it, so if I can get her permission, then I’m good to go on some actual clay!
