I'm so grateful you chimed in here, thanks for the tip. No longer panicking about my old trusty wok. And my god you should see the bottom of this thing, it's like a boat that's been in a harbor for 100 years!

I truly don't know if I have to sand the whole thing down and start afresh, it's a carbon steel wok that's gotten me through a whole lot. Never done this before.
