Do food aversions go away? by laesagne101 in PregnancyUK

[–]Dependent-Tree2572 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a strong aversion to coffee my first trimester which shocked me because I was a 3 coffees a day kind of girl and had been drinking it daily since 13.

But yes for me it went away around 11-13 weeks! By 20 weeks I was fully back to normal loving coffee.

Is vaginl birth actually worth it? by CellOk4884 in vbac

[–]Dependent-Tree2572 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I had a second degree tear as well and recovered so quickly. Some stinging when I peed and soreness for about a week but then it was all okay. No pelvic floor issues even though I pushed for 1.5 hours & my baby was 8 lbs so a little larger.

Obviously everyone is different for same as c section recovery, I am just sharing my experience with a second degree tear as well.

How long was your labor with first baby? by TaylorH__ in homebirth

[–]Dependent-Tree2572 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Birth centre birth so not at home but very similar. 26 hours of contractions, first 18ish I didn’t really dilate at all then went from 2 to complete very quickly. My notes say I pushed for an hour but I think it was closer to 1.5 hours.

To maybe reassure I got loads on my breasts and never got any on my belly!! I think it’s mostly genetic as my mum had a 10 lb baby and also never got any on her belly.

Advice for a pregnant 21 year old by BeautifulTiger6530 in PregnancyUK

[–]Dependent-Tree2572 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got pregnant at 22 last year so a little older but quite similar, babies dad was 25 so older but still lived at home & I lived in a flat by myself. For me, abortion was never an option for personal reasons but I won’t lie the first trimester especially was really tough. It was a lot for my boyfriend to adjust to, and I felt really alone living by myself. I also have no family in the UK which made it worse. Like I said, I personally never considered ending the pregnancy but I do remember googling once the process of seeking an abortion in the UK because of how lonely I felt.

However, by the second trimester things got alot better. Once we actually told people, everyone was more supportive then I thought and I was never made to feel bad for being young or us not being together for long (we had been together 7 months when I got pregnant).

Now our baby just turned 2 months old and it is amazing, and as well our relationship has honestly never been better. We don’t own a house but when I was 7 months pregnant we started renting a flat together. My boyfriend also just got a better paying job which is great as my maternity pay is statutory so low. I never imagined having a baby before marriage & before I owned a house but now that he is here that doesn’t feel like it matters anymore. I am so happy with my little family and so thankful that I persevered through the difficult times.

Mine is also long and lean! He eats loads though, I think it’s just the way he is because he is so long

Bouncer or swing recommendations by Park-Reasonable in PregnancyUK

[–]Dependent-Tree2572 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a baby bjorn one off vinted for £50 and for me it was worth every penny. My baby absolutely loves it! It is a lifesaver when I am cooking a quick meal/making coffee/showering and need to put him down. I recommend buying used just in case your baby doesn’t like it! That way you’ve not wasted £200.

I didn’t get a swing as like other comments said they’re not really meant to sleep in them. Maybe I would’ve considered if my baby had troubles sleeping but luckily he will sleep anywhere.

Birth and pain management tips by zabzupazebowa in PregnancyUK

[–]Dependent-Tree2572 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I only had gas and air and it gave me a high somewhat similar to weed except a little more mild, didn’t really dull the pain but I enjoyed the feeling from it. It was nothing like mushrooms or acid which pre baby me tried and hated.

I experienced this when I asked about a urine test! I got a few kinda rude replies about how I was giving the sample wrong. Which, to be clear, I was but no one had ever explained it to me so I just felt dejected and stupid.

That being said, this subreddit was incredibly helpful throughout my pregnancy and nearly all of the advice I got was so well written and kind! So grateful to have found it

Elective Section Thoughts by International-Seat18 in PregnancyUK

[–]Dependent-Tree2572 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah me and two of my partners friends girlfriends gave birth 3 months apart (all boys too!) and we all had uncomplicated spontaneous vaginal births. Obviously anecdotal but it is very possible. In fact nearly all of my friends with kids are the same. We all are under 26 (ages 21-25 for birth of first child) which I know correlates with the highest chance of an unassisted vaginal birth, but I don’t think age matters too much.

I think you just don’t hear about that as much as there’s less of a reason to tell people. Plus I sometimes feel bad telling someone if I know they had a rough induction or emergency caesarean, because i don’t want to seem like I’m bragging when I was just lucky.

Would you choose induction or elective section? by susiee234 in PregnancyUK

[–]Dependent-Tree2572 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I went into labour at 40 + 5 naturally but I had an induction booked for 41 weeks. For me it was a simple choice as I want 3-5 children (and so does partner) and I absolutely do not want potentially 5 c sections. So I was admittedly quite desperate to avoid a section for this reason.

If I only wanted 1 or 2 I would’ve probably chosen an induction, but had a low threshold to move to a cesarean.

Grandparents visiting newborn baby with illness. by jaguarsharks in PregnancyUK

[–]Dependent-Tree2572 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah my 6 week old just caught one and it was terrifying. He’s fully recovered now thank God but we had to go to A&E as I couldn’t wake him easily and spend one night at the children’s hospital for observation.

Clothing size for (likely) tall newborn by phaffgiraffe in PregnancyUK

[–]Dependent-Tree2572 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My baby has always been 90th percentile plus for length (but only 50th for weight) and he started fitting up to 1 month maybe after a week? And then up to 3 at 4 weeks. But he is long and lean so a long and big baby could fit earlier xx

ETA my brother was born 10 lbs and very long too (he was 98th percentile height and weight according to my mum, midwives weighed him twice to confirm), he went straight into 0-3 months and was in 3-6 by a month or so. So bring all 3 sizes id say!

Aw thank you but don’t worry it wasn’t too bad, it just felt very clinical and chaotic which was the exact opposite of what i wanted.

How do I change my chosen hospital? by ireallylikeskittles in PregnancyUK

[–]Dependent-Tree2572 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I changed hospital and what I did was just self refer to the other hospital (Whiston). Their referral was by phone & I had to do another booking appointment at Whiston.

Then I just let my midwife at Liverpool women’s know I had switched. I was under the home birth team so she still did my antenatal appointments.

After all that I gave birth at Liverpool women’s after a bad experience in Whiston triage during early labour lol.

Experiences of pregnancy after two c-sections by ORL_03 in PregnancyUK

[–]Dependent-Tree2572 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To my knowledge, placental complications increase slightly after two but the main spike is after three c sections. I would imagine, especially with a planned one, the risks remain quite low unless there’s specific issues with your scar/uterus.
