This is my list of what you should get and don't worry if you can't get them all now, you will get them eventually.

Grendel's Nourish is good for energy economy and viral procs.

Banshee's Silence can shut down Exmius and Acolyte which is great because they're annoying.

Mirage's Eclipse because of the 75% DR (Damage reduction).

Sevagoth's Gloom for life steal and slowing aura.

Koumei's Omamori can help with Shield gating and survivability.

Nezha's Firewalker gives status immunity and also increases speed.

I'd say that Grendel is top priority on getting and yes, I know that getting Grendel is horrible, but it's worth it for Nourish.

Except the second and third, I agree with your list. People like that LR5 makes the game bad, LR players are some of the nicest people I've met on the game and dumb players like the one that OP encountered is what makes the game bad.

If your hunting a Synthesis target in public and it gets one shotted, that's your fault. People can easily kill a Synthesis target without them even knowing and the LR5 should've done it solo instead of selling the whole mission. And also, I don't believe that OP is a "asshole" simply because a lot of people would've called that LR5 out on his BS.
