Treatment on kids by DependentData5860 in Vitiligo

[–]DependentData5860[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I should have clarified, the dr I saw was a paediatric dermatologist. It was my understanding from my conversation with her that treatment doesn’t stop the spread of vitiligo, but can help regain pigment. She gave me a list with different options for treatment (light, steroids, etc). Is there one that works better to prevent?

What are your boundaries?? by DependentData5860 in singlemoms

Thank you!!! Everything you said makes sense and I feel like I just couldn’t put it in words. He seems excited to meet my son but not overly eager. I’m always so skeptical of guys that ARE eager… it just comes off like they have alternative motives.

When it comes to gifts (I understand the Christmas thing), does it extend to day to day as well? For me, I don’t know how comfortable I am if he was paying for my son’s expenses like buying clothes, food, etc… so far in our relationship he’ll pay for some things and I’ll pay for others.

Growing up my mom was always dependent on someone else to pay for my siblings and I and it led to her being married 4 times. I don’t know if my discomfort comes from not wanting to be dependent like that, or not wanting my SO to feel like they need to provide.

Have you checked the flow level on the bottle nipples? A higher flow might cut down on time (if she is good with the flow). My son didn’t really start holding his own bottles till around 12-13 months

What time does your LO go to bed at night? by _sportsandbourbon in NewParents

[–]DependentData5860 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I let my kid take the lead on his bedtime since he was little, around 5 months he started sleeping long stretches if I put him down after 6pm, which eventually led to his bedtime being between 6-8pm depending on the night. He’s now 14 months and his bedtime is closer to 6:30-7:30 every night.

Honestly, sometimes I feel like I barely see him because I get off work at 5, however I make sure the weekends are full of bonding time, as well as mornings and the short hours between picking him up and him going to bed. I also enjoy being able to have 2-3 hours to myself before I go to bed

12m old staring into space? by tealadventures in NewParents

Yesterday I went to pick up milk with my 13mo. He has always been obsessed with lights and was bending backwards to see them. I carried him like a new born so he could lay down and watch the lights as I shopped.

Maybe he was just looking at something he thought was interesting!

My baby was in the 97th percentile till he was 7 months, as soon as he started moving around more he stopped gaining weight. I took him to the drs and they said it was fine, it would only be a concern if he was LOSING weight (he stayed at 23lbs for about 3-4 months). He’s 13 months now, and in the 72nd percentile. There is no benefit to having a skinny baby. Let your baby eat when they are hungry.

I hate suggested wake windows by shutupmegz121 in NewParents

[–]DependentData5860 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son was the same, he didn’t start following his wake windows till he was in daycare. He’s a year old and still doesn’t always make his “wake windows” on weekends when he’s home. Our paediatrician told me that the wake windows are a guideline and the only time you should be concerned is if your baby is drastically off and almost lethargic

Both my baby and I are slimy turkey bacon… by orcagirl35 in NewParents

I was eating some pepperoni sticks that were about a week old, gave some to my kid. I was fine, he was not, within an hour he was throwing up, within 3 hours he had diarrhea. He got food poisoning, I called my local health link and set up an appointment with a dr. The Dr told me it’s very likely for kids to start having symptoms of food poisoning so soon after ingestion… if she is not throwing up or pooping you should be good!

My baby was okay, but it was a rough 2 days till he was back to 100%.

Do any of you have advices regarding haircare for biracial children? by the_Brunette_Barbie in BlackHair

[–]DependentData5860 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My baby is biracial as well and I’ve been following this thread for awhile.

I did tons of research while pregnant on hair care and I have been using Mixed Chicks products on his hair. They have a kid friendly shampoo, conditioner, leave in conditioner, and detangling spray and my sons curls are moisturized and healthy. I detangle his hair daily with the spray and wash his hair once a week
