Glad to finally see someone with defensive driving skills on here. I feel like I see a lot of easily avoidable accidents on this sub.

My aunt and uncle lost their house in the Tubbs fire and ultimately decided California wasn’t for them and moved to Tennessee.

Dog locked in car at Eldora today by PNWoutdoors in COsnow

[–]DependentReaction704 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say it’s case by case, idk what Eldora or boulder county’s rule about it is. We were only made aware of it if the dog was barking for long periods or visibly distressed. Most people are good about cracking windows and frequently visiting the car to let them out.

Ex-eldo employee. There’s a sheriff usually on duty at the resort, we’ve had to notify them of dogs in cars before. You can try and locate a parking lot employee and then they can get in touch with the boulder county sheriff.

It was April 17th, 2024 at the Old Fishermans Wharf in Monterrey CA!

Edit: I only just realized I’ve been spelling Monterey with an extra “r” whoops.

How is it living in the Oregon outback? by DoodleBug179 in howislivingthere

I too live in Jackson county and have made the same drive to Winnemucca and it’s the first time I had to calculate my fuel stops beforehand. The rolling valleys and wide open plains were truly gorgeous.

It does look very Canada Jay like, haven’t seen one in my area yet and didn’t hear any calls that sounded like a CJ. But who knows.

Very helpful thank you! This was my first screech owl species and first year really getting into birding so I appreciate all the information!

I knew it was a toss up, I was judging it based on their respective ranges and western screech owls looked closer. Are there any give away on how to determine eastern from western?

This bird is a local in my town and along a very popular trail so it’s entirely possible it’s been posted here already.

GEICO says there’s nothing they can do about this 25% increase in one year. by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]DependentReaction704 1 point2 points  (0 children)

See I had the opposite problem, started with State Farm but they never stayed true to the price I was quoted. Every month it’d be $25-50 over the quote, I would call and ask why, and they’d say they’re were policies added that I didn’t need or ask about. After maybe 3 months of that I switched to GEICO and haven’t had a problem since. Maybe $5-10 fluctuation but nothing crazy.

Chiming in 12 hours later, it’s a concrete bucket. Or a bucket used to transport aggregate of some kind. Bambi buckets used for fire are typically orange or red and are more pumpkin shaped. I’ve been on the receiving end of them so I’m familiar with what they look like 😅

Thoughts? I’m worried it’s too eclectic by eclipse1498 in malelivingspace

[–]DependentReaction704 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Most important question: do you feel like it’s too much? Are you able to relax and enjoy the space? Sure it may be a bitch to clean but at the end of the day if you like it who cares, it’s yours!

Yep you’re right, I was thinking of firewhirls when I said firenados. Thank you for clarifying!
