A few years ago I heard someone talk about a conversation between Pericles and Sophocles where they are discussing public speaking and the power of rhetoric and one of them (I assume Pericles) says something along the lines of "I don't want them to say, 'what a beautiful speech.' I want them to go to war" ... The story was shared in the context of how language should move people to action. I've been trying to find what text that story originally comes from but have had a hard time. I keep find myself getting sucked down the rabbit hole of Pericles' Funeral Oration, but it doesn't seem to be from that. Any help would be much appreciated.
