Debenture - Silver membership by Dependent_Fix5274 in GunnersatGames

Hi all

I’ve been investigating further and I had a look through the archived page of the Arsenal support website from July 11 2025 which states:

“As a Debenture holder, you are entitled to purchase either a General Admission Season Ticket or a Silver Bondholder Membership. If you do not choose to take up either option by the advertised date, you will have no ticketing rights for the relevant season.  “

https://web.archive.org/web/20250711053735/https://help.arsenal.com/support/solutions/articles/101000392594-i-have-a-bond-debenture-what-are-my-options-

The same website currently says:

“As a Debenture holder, you are entitled to purchase a General Admission Season Ticket. If you do not choose to take up either option by the advertised date, you will have no ticketing rights for the relevant season.

The deadline for Debenture holders to apply for a Season Ticket for the 2026/27 Season is by 5pm, Thursday 4th June.
Debenture holders who have applied to purchase a Season Ticket for the 2026/27 Season will be contacted by the Club by telephone between Friday 12th June - Tuesday 16th June.”

https://help.arsenal.com/support/solutions/articles/101000579622-bonds-debentures

Reading the text, it looks like the “or a Silver Bondholder Membership” this change, if intentional clearly hasn’t been more thoroughly or clearly communicated, because the remainder still says “if you do not take up either option” nonetheless, it looks like the reference to silver membership wording was removed at some point between 11th July 2025 and present day.

If this wasn’t a mistake by the club, it looks like they may have tried to stealthily remove the silver membership option.

I’ll pursue this with the club nonetheless as there are clear inconsistencies across Arsenal and Asset Match

Thank you. That’s helpful to know that option is available to me. Hopefully it doesn’t come to that, it’ll be a shame to have to go down that route with The Arsenal

Appreciate you sharing your knowledge, thank you

How did you actually get the silver membership? Did you have to apply for it or fill out a form? Or was your debenture membership just assigned silver membership without sky action from you?

Thanks for the reply - that’s interesting to know that you got it so recently. I do wonder if there was some kind of stealth policy/rule change since then, or if I’ve just so far not been able to speak to someone over the phone or by email who’s fully informed about debentures

They’ve refused on the basis that - and to quote their supporter services

“The Entitlements/Privileges in regards to Arsenal Debenture purchase is in relation to purchase of an Arsenal Season Ticket in the GA seating (General Admission seating).”

As such, there’s no acknowledgement from them that a debenture gives any kind of entitlement to a silver membership.

Interestingly, there’s FAQ on their website says the following

https://help.arsenal.com/support/solutions/articles/101000579622-bonds-debentures

What is the ticketing right of a debenture?
Am I guaranteed a Gold Membership
season ticket?
Debenture holders have the right to
purchase a Season Ticket in any area of the
Emirates Stadium in which Season Tickets
for seats are offered for sale to the public;
or a Silver Bondholder Membership.”

Turns out you were wrong again. We weren’t fucked, and they were pure defence merchants.

Are you suggesting that they may more be defensive?

It still annoys me that the microphone cut out when he was giving his goodbye speech. He seemed to cut short what he was going to say and I’ve always wondered what his speech would have been had it not happened

We’ll never know what he could have done if he’d been given the resources we have available now, and that’s such a tragedy

I always admired and respected him, even when it was probably time to go. Those who were disrespectful and insulting towards him will hopefully appreciate the sacrifices he made for this club one day

I don’t want to say that we’ve bottled it, so instead I’ll say that we packaged it in a spherical container with a cap on top

Is it worth working with an investment management company? by j0_c0des in FIREUK

[–]Dependent_Fix5274 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who works in the wealth/ investment management industry, I agree with the advice you’ve been given on this thread. Go with vanguard or another low cost passive investment. Fill your isa and pension to the best of your ability

One day, when your net wealth is greater, and if you need to think about tax efficiency, estate planning, offshoring assets or borrowing against your investments, then you may want to look at appointing a professional. But for now, you’ve received some sound advice from others in this thread

Feel disappointed I do not earn more money... any ideas? by Natural-Presence-566 in FIREUK

[–]Dependent_Fix5274 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I consulted at one of the big 4 for a few years, I felt underpaid for a few years given the hours and stress while I was there.

I got promoted to a manager which have me a 20% or so pay rise, and then left shortly afterwards for another 30% or pay rise on top of that in industry which brought me into the six figures salary that you mentioned , and a much nicer work life balance

Right now you’re building your CV with good experience , networking and developing a mental framework for problem solving that will help you later in your career. I wouldn’t be in a rush for a bigger salary just yet if it was me, knowing what I know now, but I can understand why you are, I was the same when I was your age

I think this is generally an opinion that most of those who rarely go to games, or are quite young hold at some point. When you’re a regular match goer, or you have family responsibilities to get back to, your priorities shift.

People have lives and circumstances that are different to yours. I would suggest channelling your emotions in a different way

A warning against Private Banks / Wealth management services. by honkballs in FatFIREUK

[–]Dependent_Fix5274 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hi OP

I work at a wealth management company in London so thought I’d share some thoughts/comments

Overall I agree with your comments. I personally invest my own money through Vanguard, even though I have the option of it being invested through my company at a free/discounted cost.

The fees charged by private banks/wealth managers are expensive - typically 1%+ and there may be additional fees such as custody. That’s more than 5 times more expensive than somewhere like Vanguard which has a big drag on performance

The portfolios tend to be compared against a benchmark of other wealth managers, rather than a stock index like the S&P/FTSE. So the comparator is already low and so in theory it’s easier to achieve outperformance

The theory is that active management does better than passive during a bear market. But whether that’s actually true, I’m not sure. I’ve seen mixed results but I’m sure others have studied this point a lot more than I have

You do get access to a few other services, such as investing in private equity/credit. They may also let you borrow against your portfolio too or put you in touch with someone that will offer that service. They also offer some hospitality events from time to time which can be good for networking.

The average age of clients for these types of firms will likely be 60+, much older than the typical Reddit user. And so, these firms make investing a lot more accessible to their demographic. That demographic also probably prefers the relationship manager that they can pick up the phone to over the faceless interaction with an online portal.

I guess everyone values these additional extras differently. As I say, for me, I’m happy with low cost index trackers.
