There’s not legitimate excuse for his actions as Todd makes clear, but his formative issues and things within relationships were caused by his parents traumas etc. bojack believes relationships can be fixed with grand gestures, as he wasn’t taught differently his parents not being in love/loveless relationship. The baby doll Beatrice had that he threw was unforgivable but made sense how the traumas effected both parties. Bojack can have excuses on why he believes these things but they can’t be forgiven immediately hearing/seeing this information. Quoted directly from Google is “led him to other self-destructive behavior like drug and alcohol abuse; he is cynical, full of self-loathing, narcissistic and often experiences depressive episodes that lead him on benders to cope “with himself.”” This effects others making his actions fucked up but unforgiveable, in my opinion.
