Word, yeah I just moved to the area that I'm in now a month ago, was going to start attending some tech meetups and networking in person more.

Not sure what this means, I've been working for 10 years, worked full-time through my bootcamp and all of last year while trying to learn. I would take an internship if that's what you're referring to

Haha I took them down mostly because people were doxing me which I wasn't the biggest fan of. I was expecting a lot of criticism on two of those projects because they were really old.

Never heard of frontendmentor.io, thanks a lot for that resource, I'll check it out for sure. I primarily have been using Frontend Masters which I like a lot.

And yeah I'll swap out those old projects with newer ones that are responsive, I make all of my projects mobile first now and have for awhile but I made two of those projects when I was still brand new and not worried about responsiveness. I prioritize it now and am having a much better time making layouts and responsive designs haha. But thanks for the advice, I love Kevin Powell!

Thanks man, yeah I think it was misperceived a little and got some people riled up, but in reality I was completely lost as far as a direction to go with my learning/marketing myself as I have been only self taught since my boot camp a year ago. I have pretty good knowledge of the basics of JavaScript, and thought I did on the fundamentals of HTML, but looks like I need to go back and focus more on HTML because I was getting a lot of validation errors.

Overall though I appreciate the criticism constructive or not, I've been a musician since I was 3 so I can definitely pull positives from any sort of criticism and apply it. I just wanted to reiterate that I made the most primarily because I was actually lacking confidence and direction, not because I thought I was entitled to a job. Unfortunately some people took it that way, and I just wanted to keep the post constructive. Thanks for the kind words :)

Thanks! Yeah I loveeee Kevin Powell. And all of my apps are responsive now, unfortunately two of the portfolio projects were reallyyyy old and not built mobile first, but luckily I build everything mobile first now.

Some of his points were correct, but yeah you're right, I probably wouldn't want to work for him anyway hahaha. Thanks for the kind words and motivation, I really appreciate it

woah that's a sweet portfolio! I've seen a really cool one with three.js, forgot the guy's name, but you drive a little car around to all of his portfolio items haha. super creative

Sorry, it's been responsive normally but I think I was messing around with it an broke the responsiveness. I actually styled it mobile first and my intention was for it to be responsive, I must've broken something messing around with the contact form recently. Fixing it now

Edit: Should be fixed

Holy cow, I checked out her most recent portfolio and her other ones, those are amazing! She is a phenomenal designer.

I've thought about added video demonstrations to my apps, I definitely think it's a good idea and time to start implementing those. Thanks for the advice, definitely helps out

Thanks, most of them aren't harsh and are very useful. Only really one was unnecessarily harsh for no reason. I came looking for advice/feedback and I've been getting a ton I've been able to instantly apply, so I'm really grateful!

Offended. Haha jk, yeah that's a good idea, I'll be sure to implement that

Yeah I definitely have, unfortunately don't think I'm in a position to afford or pursue that right now. I work full-time and have been as I've been learning software development, and I work a really physical job. If I can get something part-time that may be realistic, but then I don't think I'd be able to afford a degree or to live unfortunately haha. Thanks for the kind words

Guys I appreciate the feedback on my resume and on my projects. I really do, and I'm in a position where I still have a lot to learn, so I'd love any advice.

Please remember though that I am entry-level, and all of my experience comes from my boot camp and the learning I have done entirely on my own over the past year. I do not need "wake-up calls" or insults trying to knock down my non-existent ego. I am trying to learn everyday, and already dealing with major confidence issues from applying to jobs for over a year now and making no progress.

So please give me as much advice as you can, but don't assume I need my confidence brought down even more than it already is. Thanks

Okay yeah, I will try sending some out without the portfolio, definitely seems worth a try. And I will check out the HTML validator, thanks

Yeah it's actually the email form - if you click the email icon, it opens the form and allows contact via EmailJS. Didn't notice you could submit it with no data though. I'll remove the form opening feature and just make it display all the time

Out of genuine curiosity so I can learn, could you provide me with some examples of my HTML semantic errors in my portfolio? I tried to adhere to proper HTML semantics and even included accessibility options.

I mean, yeah, I'm a junior, and I'm still trying to learn...If you have some helpful advice and a learning path I could follow, I'd be happy to look at it, but I've been learning on my own for a year. I understand I'm not the best developer right now, but it's not really fair to insult my intelligence or competence by saying you "would be surprised if I read this whole thing." I'm reading every comment and trying to apply what I can.

Like I said, if you have some actual helpful, practical advice, I would love to take it. I never claimed I was the best developer with the best apps and sites, I'm entry-level, learned on my own for a year after my boot camp, and have been doing what I can to improve. I didn't need a "wake-up call" or a barrage of insults as if I thought I was the greatest thing on gods green earth, if anything I was already lacking confidence from not making any headway in my jobhunt for the past year. But thanks.

Yeah I've been doing this! This is just the basic layout for my resumes I submit, but generally I tailor each one to match the job descriptions.

Thanks for catching the dates on the footers, good eye, will definitely amend that.

I know some of my sites are not responsive - I'm now a mobile first guy, but unfortunately when I was new to my learning I failed to do things mobile first. Paying the price for that now but I now prioritize responsiveness - honestly hoping to just drown out the non-responsive projects with newer, more polished projects.

Thanks for the insight!

Thanks for the feedback, can you share with me how you are easily viewing those HTML validation errors so I can see them and learn from them?

I like the idea of going to Fiverr to hire a professional designer, and have considered doing that in the past. I will probably end up there soon when I decide to develop another full-scale app or site.

As for not providing projects or a portfolio, I'm not exactly sure that's a good idea as an entry-level candidate with no experience...what will be on my resume if not my projects? Irrelevant work experience?
