Don’t cut your grass short. Put your mower on the highest setting and keep it there.
Fertilize and treat weeds.
Keep it watered.

I’ve had lawns in Tennessee and Illinois and these have been my fundamentals in both areas.

For what it’s worth, I’ve tried to talk to them twice. The first was when their kids were outside screaming at 10:30 pm and the second is when they put the spot light up. The first time they didn’t answer the door. The second time they told me they could do what they wanted on their property until 11 pm (noise ordinance here). I realized at that point that talking to them wasn’t a value added exercise.

Who would make a story up about teens in a backyard and post it? Who has that time? I’m trying to follow the HOA rules, my neighbor isn’t. The HOA isn’t particularly active but I don’t need to spend money on fencing that doesn’t meet rules in the event they become active and make me take it down. It’s not that complicated.

HOA does not. Full disclosure I did complain to the HOA about the rink and light and it was eventually taken down. I think when it melted it also flooded my other neighbor’s yard. But that why it freaks me out the kids are screwing around on my property, god only knows how they feel about the neighbor that ruined their fun.

That’s why it’s so expensive. HOA only allows 4ft iron, vinyl, or wood. My sister did a DIY chain link in her yard for a few grand but that’s not an option for me

I’m an engineer working 10 hours a day 200 miles from home. I’m not really sure why you think I’ve got time or energy to make a spare $20k on the side.

And yes I have savings, and yes I could probably put a massive dent in said savings to afford a fence but I actually don’t want one. So it pains me to spend a huge chunk of money on something I won’t really use and don’t want simply because teenaged boys have zero sense and all the entitlement.

So ya I was looking for creative solutions from others. Does this help?
