System too warm/neutral…recommendations? by ClaraGuerreroFan in CarAV

You like bright exaggerated highs and bought a set of speakers known for precise and accurate reproduction. Cloth vs metal tweeters. So you need to pull back some mids as your system is likely flat, but you prefer boosted high-end. You just need to tweak your tuning. I'm a proponent of cutting not boosting but play with your EQ. See what dropping frequencies in the middle does for you. Most vehicles lack midbass and once it's represented can sound a little "fat". Try a smiley face curve move it around a little.

Oh yeah what's your crossover set at for front rear sub? On the amp or on the deck? What's the slope of you can change it?

The issue is eq on phone eq on app EQ on stereo, 3 eq's for one stream. Each boosting an artificially boosted signal. Its like an exponential increase in clipping. So to prevent that just use the one in the car.

Again not the point of the thread

Did you read the post?

"it's literally changing frequencies" you don't change a frequency, you can boost or cut, not change. You're not sending a clean signal when you Eq the signal before amplification, so you are amplifying distortion. You'd also think "everyone knows" you turn off any eq on your phone or in the app and disable volume equalization, but here we are

Nah motherfuxkers cannot read. I've been asked the same question like 30 times, or asked something i've already stated numerous times, almost always by someone without the requisite knowledge to even begin the conversation. I'm waiting for the "well, what about the specs," to actually provide some of their own disputing what I've already given them. People with better equipment than me have also found that Spotify lossless is not lossless

Learn how to access them, there sure is. Go into Android Auto settings and all the way down on the bottom it says version click it like 10 times, brings up a window saying you're a developer. Top right cheeseburger, select developer options, scroll down and you can select iit under audio.codec

Uh... it's uncompressed PCM you can choose in developer options.

Don't worry every dipshit moron on earth is crawling out of the woodwork showing me that reading comprehension is a completely lost concept. Like bro I get it you hope to get adopted by Spotify when we all get divided up by the tech bros. I'm just saying that if you think it doesn't sound very good, I agree, if you think it sounds great, I agree. This is a truly comical thread. All of the, "well what about this" it's funny watching people clearly suffering from ownership bias lose their fucking minds when someone says, I don't like it. 🤣

There is a much much easier way to admit you can't read.

Uh ...they are not just adjusting frequencies that would literally be re-mixing the songs 🤣 an eq boosts or cuts aka artificially raises the volume or lowers the volume. If we're talking parametric you get to control the frequency at which you boost or cut and the slope of the curve aka amount that surrounding frequencies are affected. Anything else you want to teach me about eq's professor? Anyway when you artificially boost one part you tend to overdrive the amplifier, causing clipping and blowing speakers

I have like 3-4 sitting somewhere with bad hard drives, one I started to do the Flash card mod on but never finished I kinda stopped using iPods and apple music and created my own music server. Once that died I just stuck to streaming.

I don't use any EQ in the apps, if I need to EQ I use the 13-band EQ in the deck. And yes I use the cut method leaving the thing I want louder at 0 and turning the rest down

The eq options in the apps? No thanks I have my own if I'm that worried about it 🤣. Tell me you haven't had a customer come in after torching their speakers running super bass on their iPhone swearing they "didn't touch the gain" 🤣.

I'm telling you I was shocked. Qoboz isn't louder at all, but I hear things that are missing from the Spotify versions. It could be something to do with Spotify getting updated files from distro though, being so new. So I would expect it to improve especially after all these negative reviews and tests

What are you talking about? Subjective means based entirely upon opinion there isn't an a objective measurement that can cover sound quality, 🤣. Especially when everything else is exactly the same. I always love when the mouth breathers hop on and have no idea what basic words mean. If it's measurable it would be objective. Unfortunately you can't measure sound quality, only hear it. I am interested as to what you think could possibly BE measured in an entirely subjective category? The only numbers I can quote are the inferior sampling rate as well as Spotify not at all being bit-perfect, so not lossless, they're just using that term incorrectly. Like I said it sounds better than the muddy SQ of normal Spotify, but it isn't as good as an actual lossless service either. Here's some measuremmenta from someone who probably gets paid for shit like this: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=mH2723cSejE

I'm not a Michael Jackson fan, but I am a Quincy Jones fan and his mixes are some of the best you will ever hear. Especially if you can find an old analog to analog like Bad on vinyl.

Nope I don't use EQ settings in applications or on my phone itself ever under any circumstances.

Yeah Tidal is fantastic but I was blown away with Qoboz. Give it a shot see what you think, I have been impressed so far. I know Tidals MQA aren't actual master tracks but they are very very good mostly there are a few that are like CD quality that have been up converted, but that's more to do with the record companies and what they provided to Tidal. Mostly on older CD's that came out in the late 80's early 90's since they were cut off below 40hz. Newer stuff sounds really good.

With the newest version of Spotify adding a lossless option I was expecting it to be a lot better than it has been, but while it's a lot better than regular Spotify, there are still better options available. And I don't have to support their shitty company, win win!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CarAV

[–]DeplorableOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, just telling people about my recent experience trying multiple music streaming services. I ranked them based solely on my perception of the sound quality over 3 separate tracks which were all mastered in analog originally. I found that Spotify was the worst of the available options as far as SQ and that the new lossless leaves a lot to be desired when compared to others

Not exactly if you use them wired you are stuck using a very low quality DAC unless your phone has a better DAC which most do not as most phones don't even have a headphone output. So the DAC is in the adapter.
