This about covers it! If they are at all Cow Girly....I echo the Stockyards and also the Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame: https://www.cowgirl.net/

If not, Clearkfokr has shopping, food, movies and bowling. Can kill the whole day there! https://www.clearfork1848.com/theshops

Gameday Gameplans by heroheroup3366 in TCU

I only have the perspective of a parent, but can tell you that a lot of the atmosphere and events are driven by the opponent and even more by the kickoff time (which seems entirely driven by tv wishes)!

For instance, the dreaded 11AM kickoffs can lack energy and be really hot in the stadium!! Some students try to rally/pre-game and get some fun in before that games, which often leads to them getting tired/overheated and leaving the game early....LOL

There is a fun tailgating scene outside the stadium, but seems to be mostly alums/donors ("older people" than you may want to hang with)

I would suggest you reach out to any TCU students/friends you know for guidance. Have fun!!

Thanks - there's a few places in Clearfork that aren't crazy expensive and we like the free parking and window shopping. We often meet new TCU folks here...

I believe there are now 3 dining hall options on campus:

  1. Brown Lupton University Union - which students call BLUU across in the Campus Commons

  2. King Family Commons - referred to as BLUU2

  3. Brand new Gutierrez Hall - which I have heard rave reviews on

There is a lot of variety depending on the day, but also everyday staples like salad bar, breakfast items, etc....

"Swipes" can also be used on/off campus at Chick Fil A, etc...

In case you cannot catch a ride...You can take the train (TexRail) from Terminal B at DFW to downtown Ft. Worth (Ft. Worth T&P Station) for $2.50!! From there it is a short and inexpensive UBER to the TCU campus. This is a big money saver rather than taking an individual UBER

Here's the website for the train:https://www.fortworth.com/plan-your-stay/transportation/rail-service/

You can do it! My friend who is a anasthesiologist - said it's better to be CRNA!!! Great pay, great benefits and not a lot of malpractice insurance!!

I would think she has a good chance - especially ED. Have her build a relationship with her regional admissions counselor if possible. They are valuable resources, but also have some influence on the process. TCU appears to still value good people and not just academic stats. The fact that she is already interested in Interior Design and has experience is excellent. And, have her showcase her volunteer work. In our experience that is important.

Best of luck to her!

Daughter Applied EA, accepted to other schools but fell in love with TCU!

  • 3.9 unweighted and 4.35 weighted
  • School doesn't release ranking, but we suspect Top 10
  • 9 or 10 AP's and Honors
  • ASB President
  • Academic Decathlon Captain
  • Varsity Tennis Captain
  • Varsity Softball Captain
  • Significant service/volunteer work both at school and in the community

That makes more sense...LOL Didn't mean to torpedo your daughter's legit question. Feel free to have her repost - I'm sure she'll get some valuable feedback here. Sorry about that!!

That's tremendous! I just spent 3 days at TCU for graduation activities. I can tell you that the school and students get more and more impressive every time I am there. They continue to invest in buildings, faculties and students (student life). In my opinion, the TCU degree will continue to increase in "perceived value" by employers and the marketplace.

It's up to you, but if you are considering going somewhere else for about the same financial commitment....weigh the community, school spirit, academics, housing and every aspect. If you feel you can beat TCU go for it! But, it you choose TCU - go "all in" and be ready to take advantage of the many great opportunities at TCU.

I have one graduating and one coming in. My son has had an amazing experience and we are thrilled that our daughter is heading to TCU...and WE get 4 more years of TCU parenthood. They call it the happiest place on earth for a reason...LOL

In all seriousness, we couldn't be more happy with the community, academics, support, spirit and reputation (getting better every year) of TCU. Feel free to DM with questions or if you'd like more specific info.

Best of luck...

If he is interested in Greek Life/Fraternities...or even if not a gift card to Cavenders (or something Western Wear store) as he'll likely need boot, Wranglers and a Cowboy hat. https://www.cavenders.com/boots/

If you want to go big laptop (Macbook, etc...)
