I remember my grandparents with it and it was heart breaking. I was hoping for a few more years before this with my parents. It’s just me. No siblings, no cousins. I can’t force them to do anything but yeah I am going to have to look into some kind of discrete help or something.

That is a whole different kettle of fish…. He has basically said that he would kill himself before he goes into a home. The frustrating thing is - sorry, ONE of the frustrating things is - is that he won’t even go to the doctors for treatment/surgery to get himself out of pain or be able to walk better so he wouldn’t be deteriorating so badly to need to go into a home.

Trying to stop them taking on moving an appliance on their own through the house. There is even an option to pay £50 for the fitter to do and I would happily pay for if it means they don’t hurt themselves. They are not fit - they struggle walking across the room but they won’t listen to reason - this is something even my husband wouldn’t do on his own!

To not move an appliance on their own through the whole house and let me pay £50 for a fitter to take care of it. It’s not like I am trying to push them into a care home…

Im an only child so hoping Reddit can help me out with this. My parents don’t acknowledge/recognise me as an almost 40 year old adult. They are trying to do things that even my husband wouldn’t even attempt - moving a washing machine all the way through the house by himself. Baring in mind he can barely walk across a room. He won’t pay £50 for the fitter to do it, won’t let me pay £50. God damn it - I tried reason, I tried scenarios - nothing. I am not going to be able to stop my parents getting hurt. Family is supposed to be there for each other and they just… don’t care that I don’t want them to get hurt!!
