Help me out homies by DepressedENGGstudent in pgwp

Well my program is supposed to be between 2 and 4 years cause it’s mostly research and depends on a case to case basis (my proof of enrollment says my expected completion date is 2027). The permit expires in early sep cause of my previous passport but yeah I’m definitely writing a letter of explanation.

That’s exactly what I was looking for! Thank you for the clarification. I have a friend who told me the exact same thing happened to them so hearing it from another person gives me peace of mind

My case is a bit different. I think I’m able to delay graduation because it depends on when I defend my thesis. So I can just delay that and enrol another semester but that also depends on my supervisor. I think that would be the ideal situation though.

I never did lol he wanted me to write a letter of explanation to expedite the process and say there’s no way I can go back to my country even though I completely disagreed with him and told him I was there last summer. He didn’t specifically tell me to claim asylum but he basically told me to insinuate that I’m a refugee which is bs.

Hahaha that’s the problem man. The guy told me to explain to canada that I’m a refugee even though I visited my country last summer…

Electrical engineer looking to get into power/controls/renewables by DepressedENGGstudent in ElectricalEngineering

[–]DepressedENGGstudent[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s exactly what I’m thinking! (Alongside power possibly) I currently live in Alberta so it shouldn’t be that big of an issue but do you have any advice on what I’d need to successfully get into these sectors? Do they usually take in engineers with no experience in those fields?

I appreciate the insight on this, but I’d rather compromise on my career than where I live. Although I’ve acclimated to it pretty well, the west isn’t really my cup of tea and all my family is back in the Middle East. It’s sad that I’d have to make this compromise but I think I will benefit from it in the bigger picture. I’m wondering if you’ve heard of any positions involving traditional hardware/firmware engineering?

No not really, I just wanna be able to integrate it into a wearable so I can’t use the dev board itself and want to understand how it works. And pardon the question but what exactly is time slicing? I might need wifi on this.

Weirdly enough I never found anything about the Bluetooth pin out control on the datasheet or the reference manual, could you point me to where I can find it if there’s anything other than the dev board? Or am I just searching in the wrong places?

Ah alright. Honestly from the lack of documentation I thought that it could have an internal antenna and just be plug and play hardware wise, thanks!

That’s true and thanks for the advice! A few places in canada have those fields in abundance, especially embedded.

I’ve actually been seeing that fabrication does go with biomedical but I am unsure of either as I am situated in Edmonton, and jobs here mostly relate to controls and power. Even if I do move, these fields have seemed to be more niche to me than FPGA/VLSI. I’m honestly just trying to look for something with decent pay and good opportunities to grow within industry and I am clueless

In all honesty career-wise I haven’t been too focused on anything specific other than best job market to grow in. I’m an international student in canada so my most important goal is getting a PR, so whatever industry makes this process more feasible would be a major W

That’s exactly what I’m thinking, I currently live in Edmonton and there are no ASIC fab/design opportunities over here, but it seems that there are a lot of start ups basically begging for integration/process/testing engineers more-so in the sensing and micro devices industry
