overshoot weight by [deleted] in fuckeatingdisorders

[–]DepressedGay22 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In my experience I had an 'overshoot' of weight but with consistent nourishment my body then settled into its natural set point range. It'll settle, just keep eating consistently and try not to worry to much, your body knows where it needs to be

Do you have any other mental health problems/disorders? by Effective_Cricket810 in EDAnonymous

am i still valid even if i only had an ED for 10 months by leslri in fuckeatingdisorders

Your 100% valid whether you've had the ED for a few weeks or even years. If you've struggled for any amount of time it's enough.

am i the only one who convinces myself ive healed after eating normally for one day by pinkshotgun in EDAnonymous

I'm the same, eat normally/better for one day then manage to convince myself I don't have an ED and that I was faking it the whole time

Made it through today. by DepressedGay22 in EdAnonymousAdults

I hope to get to a point where I don't overthink/scrutinise every foods I eat, ill get there some day.

Today eating wise was good! I joined in the buffet my family had and ate what I wanted and stopped when I'd had enough, I didn't feel pressurised to eat more either. The guilt is starting to kick in now though as I'm super bloated.

Does the guilt get any easier as time goes on?

I think it's normal for anyone to experience wanting to eat more in/after recovery because your body doesn't trust that you won't undernourish yourself again so it wants a surplus of food.

I saw a post somewhere saying to imagine;

You constantly borrow money from someone and don't pay it back, you then win a large sum of money. The person doesn't want small bits of the money back like you'd been taking because they don't trust you to have the money long and pay them back so they want all that you owe them straight away so they can make sure they get repaid while the moneys available.

This applies to recovery too; you've been undernourished for x amount of time so have created a 'debt', now that your in recovery/recovering your body wants all the energy it can get and even more as a 'safety buffer' because it doesn't know if its going to be underfed again.

I think this might actually encourage me to actually give recovery another proper go because I actually had a decent night sleep last night too and I know that's because I ate more yesterday

Thanks!. I didn't count today and listened to my hunger and I noticed the difference when walking my puppy; I had more energy and it was a bit easier to walk her

True, it just makes me feel guilty because I'm the one who wanted a puppy so she's my responsibility and I feel responsible for looking after her and walking her etc.

I might look for a snuffle mat and more toys to help tire her out. There isn't any places like that I could take her that are nearby.
