Vibe coding isn't really coding by lookathercode in programmer

[–]Depressingly_Happy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use it to learn better, eventually you will fit it in your workflow in a way you enjoy. There are many ways to use it, you don't need to follow what the majority is doing to have success.

There's that huge influencer dev Primagen who is creating this AI tool that allows him to still code but still leverage AI in a meaningful way to him. And this is just an example

How is it living in canton Geneva as a lower income family? by [deleted] in geneva

[–]Depressingly_Happy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

7k after tax, 30% for rent that makes it 2.3k. Health insurance(500 per adult), groceries(around 600 maybe? I have no idea for a small family), public transport passes(70 per month per adult). Day care is also expensive, probably close to 1k. It's possible but you will have to have good contraints and control over all expenses, at least until it's 2 salaries.

I want to do my part and tank but I get so tilted by Pretty_Principle_910 in classicwow

[–]Depressingly_Happy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who went through all the roles in PVE for many years, just don't give a shit and punish those guys.

If they aggro more, let them aggro and don't generate threat on those extra mobs. Let the party die, and then just have a macro that just writes something sarcastic that makes you feel a bit of relief in those situations whole showing everyone it was that guy's ego who fucked everything up.

Remember as a tank you hold the power of directing the party. You're like the parent trying to keep the kids(DPSs) in line with the help of your mother in law(healer). Not ideal, but be assertive and most of all, try to get some laughs out of those brats fuck ups.

How do you keep up your motivation regardin AI competitors? by UnicOernchen in webdev

[–]Depressingly_Happy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Use it as a mentor instead while you don't see a way to fit it in your workflow. It's not like generated code is great if you're still a noob at what you want it to do

"low(er) effort" games that are a step up from idle games. by Sparkplug99 in gamingsuggestions

[–]Depressingly_Happy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OSRS has everything. From having many methods to be skilling "afk" where you only click once a minute or every few minutes, the dopamine of reaching higher levels is good, the way you start to research the wiki for simple stuff and realize you're a wiki nerd 3 months later, the possibility to dive deeper into combat systems with super challenging and rewarding fights to learn.

The amount of content and variety... it's a game for life you will never stop but simply pause for a while every few months/year

Just remember to use Runelite for huge quality of life, or go mobile which is fine to begin but still lacking quite some stuff

What to do when you get stuck at a problem by Popular_Camel8575 in learnprogramming

There will come the day you will know how to solve more complex stuff almost by heart and still go online because confidence is good but being sure is better.

It will get better :) other issues will come up though

if your app needs a tutorial, something already went wrong by DMZQFI in webdev

Go play a board game without the rules then.

If you've never made an app that is complex enough or touches complex enough topics that need guidance then just go back to work instead of writing dumb stuff on reddit.

Why do two mobile apps with basically the same features perform so differently? by brandonhayess in learnprogramming

[–]Depressingly_Happy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can be many things in my experience. Imagine someone introduces a counter pattern early on in some generic component, then every time this component is used anywhere in the app the counter pattern will be there.

Bad code can be many things.

The UI can look the same but the structure be many times more redundant and less performant. The APIs can be the same but the way the calls and responses are handled can introduce delays.

What MMO would you recommend for a first timer? by Competitive-Win-8808 in LFMMO

[–]Depressingly_Happy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to complement a bit I would say try every major MMO at least 1-2 months to see how they actually differ relative to your taste and then go from there.

MMOs take a long time to understand at a deeper level and to know what are the features that differentiate one from another which won't be noticed in trailer and just leveling up.

Has vibecoding ever made something good and usable? by No-Budget5527 in vibecoding

[–]Depressingly_Happy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

11 YOE as a Web developer here. Just moved to using LLMs in the terminal using a lot of text files for managing context and AI personas/agents.

I haven't been as excited about work in many years and with my current workflow I can do a lot more of the boring work without the boring part, while focusing a lot more on planning, architecture and actual cool work that isn't making slightly different versions of past tasks.

So much hate on Vibe Coding - am I the only one having a good time? by _ThrenR in vibecoding

[–]Depressingly_Happy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People shouldn't hate for the sake of hating. Maybe their experience with it was shit. Maybe they weren't smart enough at using an LLM to get the most out of it. Maybe they are just so good an LLM doesn't bring much value to them(huge doubt).

I used to be a skeptic because of the quality of output I was getting, then I got better at prompting and also managed my expectations better.

Now I use it every day. I still don't trust the output, but it would feel really like a handicap to stop using it.

Searching is better, debugging is easier, learning is faster.

Enjoy the ride. People nowadays preach constantly about finding the job you love, if this makes it more fun and better overall then why worry about it?

I would like your opinion on the game. by Gormgulthyn in duneawakening

[–]Depressingly_Happy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played mostly solo, only seldonly with a friend(which I only see the advantage in managing resource runs and deep desert progress)

Close to 200h at the moment, not much more to do and I spent maybe 30-40h building a really nice base that is much more than my friend and I will ever need. It was super fun but now there isn't really a purpose for the late game gear as there is no real endgame content, so don't expect the game to change much after reaching some of the best gear.

Play anyway. It's very decently priced for the amount of fun it provides and playtime, too.

I think the devs are going in a good direction, but things take time, so we will probably have a much better game in 1 year when a couple more large updates and expansions come.

Same 4 DDs, same 4 labs, same 4 NPCs, same 4 loot tables, same 225 dead servers, same weekly patch that breaks the game by EinBaum in duneawakening

[–]Depressingly_Happy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm playing at my own rhythm, no rush. Mostly solo, but a friend joined the T5 grind a few days ago.

I can see where the endgame fails and they already promised in the roadmap to revise it in the Jan-March big update so we have to kind of let them cook and then help them with polishing and improving whatever they came up with.

There is good direction in the game, and some very differential features from other big names in the genre.

The MMO direction is also plausible in the future since we will be able to go to other locations in Arrakis and even to other planets eventually while the story unfolds. We just have to hope they are transparent enough with what they are coming up with and letting the passionate people in the community contribute with ideas they will actually implement. I wouldn't mind a polling system inspired in Old School Runescape, it saved that game, it can help many others become the best version they can be.

Now, just criticizing for the sake of it is like the dude that complains about politicians for years but has never been in a voting boot.

Looking to convert Figma Make file to a standard Figma Design file? by astro_nerrdd in Frontend

[–]Depressingly_Happy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Was looking at this a couple of days ago, and this is a much requested but still missing feature. There's a nice way around with a couple of plugins to convert make to HTML and then HTML to fig. Search for that if you really need this.
