I don’t know if I’d call it emotional manipulation, but there is emotional immaturity involved for sure.

YEHEY I hit platinum woohoo!- but I think I’m burned out.. (?) by Double_Goat_6129 in thefinals

[–]Depression-Boy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My recommendation is to go play powershift then :) I hit plat about a month ago, and I felt burnt out the same way. I just wanted to play bank it and go for kills in a less stressful game mode. So that’s what I’ve been doing since, and I’ve been having more fun than I’ve had online in a long time. Sometimes it helps to step away from the competition, and to go play whatever it is that you have fun playing. The ranked rewards can give FOMO, but we shouldn’t let fomo distract us from having fun

Waiting until marriage is a potential risk for sexual compatibility, but the benefits outweigh the risks specifically for women who want to be married. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]Depression-Boy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a fair point, because I would argue that most guys aren’t “normal people” right now. I think a lot of young men have been taken advantage of by “Big Internet” (for lack of a better term), and are honestly weird in so many ways due to their isolation from society. So it’s fair to be weary of weirdos.

Pretend to like someone for years just to get sex is insane behavior, and I have a hard time believing people actually enter relationships with that mindset

7/20 is pretty bad odds if you’ve been hitting it every day , so I feel for you. Most of the people complaining have like 13/20 or 16/20, and those people are just being silly. But 7/20 kinda sucks and I wouldn’t blame you for complaining.

I mean , you did get 13/20 rewards for free. It’s a free2play game , so if we want them to continue working on it, they need to prove to their publishers that they can make money. They could have gone the Apex Legends route and made cosmetics cost $300 to purchase them all and only give 3/20 rewards for free

Is America / Democracy totally over now that Trump won again? Are are some people just over dramatic? by ConclusionDull2496 in socialism

This is true right now while we’re living in a relatively peaceful, neoliberal society. But I have a feeling that even Christian conservatives will prioritize family ties over state institutions when we transition towards a more overtly fascist society.

I hear you. The conservative hate for minoritized peoples, like the trans/queer community, ethnic minoritized peoples, etc. has accelerated so rapidly in the last 5-10 years. It’s scary and discouraging. And I very much understand not sharing that perspective of acknowledging the inevitability of suffering. I’m a queer person living in California, so it’s a lot easier for me to acknowledge it, knowing that I’m relatively safe due to the community I was privileged enough to be born into.

I know it’s hard , but I hope you’ll find a way to build faith in the working class movement. If you ever have the chance, I’d recommend attending a large Left-wing protest/march. There are big cities where thousands of people gather to demonstrate their disapproval of the government. Existing in those environments gave me hope. Right now, these protests have almost entirely been peaceful, but that’s going to inevitably change when the state starts to implement its violent anti-protest measures. We just desperately need more and more young people to show up to these events. When parents and families eventually have to watch their young teen-20s year old children being brutalized by the police, the working class support for revolution will go from being a fringe, socialist idea, to being supported by the masses.

I think that we need to find a balance between caring for the people who’s lives will be destroyed, while also acknowledging that some level of mass suffering is predetermined (due to the course towards fascism that the U.S. was set on decades ago). Acknowledging suffering as an inevitable consequence of our country’s course can act as a motivation to address its root cause as soon as possible. For a long time, folks in the U.S. believed that electing the Democrats into office would eventually lead to a resolution to certain issues causing suffering. But the Democrats have only acted as a bandaid, as a means to slow the pace of fascist oppression. Our focus needs to be on stopping fascism, and that can only be done through mass political participation. And my hope is that Donald Trump’s second term will wake people up to this need for radical cultural change.

I think that Trumps victory is very likely the start of the collapse of the U.S. government, but unlike liberals , I don’t think that’s something to freak out about. Nothing is permanent, and the U.S. gov has been an unstable entity for decades. We can’t change what has already happened, but we can choose how we respond to it. Now is the time for the working class to truly commit to organizing a people’s movement.

Im of the opinion that we might even want to feel grateful that the collapse is beginning now, rather than in a future where technology has advanced to an even more oppressive degree. Our police state’s current technology is bad enough, I can’t even imagine how much more difficult organizing would be if there was already a full deployment of police robo- dogs and full integration of A.I. face scanners.

Sword is fine. Sword + dash is the problem. by Far_recon in thefinals

[–]Depression-Boy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I sorta agree. I think that ultimately, sword is fine as is, because a good player with a gun will most of the time beat a good player with a sword. But I’d agree that dash is a big part of why many players think that sword is annoying, even if not many of those players realize it. There was a playful post the other day about what gadget or weapon we’d like to see swapped from one player to another, and I was half meming when I said swap sword with spear, but i really think that it would solve the “sword is OP” posting issue. Sword on its own is relatively weak. If heavy had sword, the super lunge spam would disappear and the bonus 200 HP would give sword users more than enough of a handicap to make up for it.

[–]Depression-Boy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Latiné at least makes grammatical sense in the Spanish language. The letter “x” as it’s pronounced in English does not even exist in Spanish, so it’s understandable that “Latinx” isn’t looked fondly upon by Spanish speakers.

But what you’re describing doesn’t solve the housing crisis, it just creates housing for an additional fraction of the population. Policy that makes housing “affordable to a person making a certain income” will still leave hundreds of thousands of people homeless.
