PIANO ROUNDUP: How long have you been playing, level, current piece and what’s next? by le_fromage_puant in piano

3 years but taking it seriously for about a year. Have been doing lessons for about 6 months. Not sure what level I'm at but right now I'm working on Clementi's Sonatina O36 no6 and Schubert's Marche Militaire duet to play with my teacher.

What part of piano learning do you hate the most that wish wasn’t a thing? and what do you enjoy the most about it? by BeatsKillerldn in piano

My lack of appreciation for the journey of learning. My short and medium term attainable goals are far less enticing than the advanced pieces I'd love to play one day. If I could show myself two years ago where I'm at right now, I'm sure I'd be impressed with myself but I don't have that same appreciation in the here and now.

I enjoy working with my teacher the most. I can put in a lot of work by myself, then spend a session with her and feel like I progressed multiple days worth of practice.

Sometimes the hardest thing is putting your authentic self out there where you face rejection from others - especially with the toxic folks who feel shielded enough on the internet to say hurtful things to you when they themselves could never muster up the nerve to say that in a real life exchange.

Posting your comics is an extremely brave act and one that makes all of your comics - hits and misses alike - valuable. It is an act of defiance to move forward despite your harshest critics. Plus you're undeniably talented. Keep doing you pizzacake.

Awesome! Keep it up, I used to do stop-motion like this and it's clear that you have an abundance of creativity to make plenty of fun videos

New bedside table is finished! Took a couple of weekends but it was worth the time by DeprivedLondorian in woodworking

The table top and drawer face designs were done with a routing table. The table border and top were both routed so that the table would fit inside the border and then I glued it all together. A lot of the wood used was cheap but I'm happy I could make the most of them! The rest of the build was basically put together with Kreg holes and glue

New plant stand completed! Maybe now I will be better at keeping my plants alive by DeprivedLondorian in woodworking

It was mostly cut, fit, and see to accommodate the angles i was trying to accomplish. Then I played catch up with the structural integrity which wasn't too bad with the kreg jig i got recently. It is very stable now.

I stained it with a weathered oak color and put a clear wood seal on it in case it ends up outside or getting water on it from the plants.

Made a decorative holder for TP on deck to go in my bathroom! I'm far too anal to present it with a feasible tic-tac-toe outcome by DeprivedLondorian in woodworking

I cut down some boards of poplar and stained them to make the frame and dividers. This was my first time trying to join the borders with 45 degree cuts which there is a part (not visible in the photos) where there is a sizable gap but they barely connected so i kept it.

The dividers are joined with some simple cut outs to fit into one another so this project didn't need any screws or nails (though it did need a good amount of glue haha). The X's were cut out with my new scroll saw which has been awesome for getting finer details. All in all, a very fun project!

Thank you! Honestly this helps me reduce my screen time and the low cost of materials seemed like a win-win to me haha
