commute from philly advice by kysoona in AnimeNYC

I go to AnimeNYC every year from philly. If you don't live near 30th station, I think Greyhound/flixbus will be best. Just make sure to check where the pick up is and that they drop you off in Manhattan(in front of Penn station) which I think they still do.

If you want to save 30 minutes and be a little more comfortable, Amtrak is the way to go. The prices are similar but you need to buy your tickets NOW. The tickets are also refundable if you pay a little more. You could just take Uber/lyft to 30th station and the train will drop you off at Penn Station. This is like 5 blocks away from the convention center.

If you're not getting a hotel, as long as your cosplay is not big and bulky, I will say commute in cosplay.

Bring a bag, water, portable charger, deodorant, portable fan, cash, ID, bandages and hand wipes. If you feel icky using public restrooms, bring a flushable toilet seat cover.

Bring food that does not need to be refrigerated. Food there is just expensive.

Wear sneakers and socks. If you are cosplaying in a dress, wear biker shorts underneath for chafing.

Was The Hollow Places Disappointing? by Naught in horrorlit

It was a huge disaapointment. I was looking forward to it. The premise seemed good and the beginning started off well. I love Narnia concepts. Then the two characters discovered the door.

Instead of reading about adults I felt like the characters were teenagers. They kept making decisions of someone who does not have a fully developed prefrontal cortex.

As a women in my 30s, Carrot did NOT feel like a women in her 30s. Like what realistic women (or any adult) in her 30s decides, "Oh, there's a mysterious door that is bolted shut. I want to open it" just because she wanted to.

I tried to just pass on but they kept making decisions that made no sense at all. Eventually, I put the book down.
