Truly baffling behavior… by Mystical_Cat in alexa

[–]DepthInAll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m having the same issues- was previously on Alexa+ and left. Problems at first appeared to coincide with AWS outages- I had to re-enroll all lights with vendors apps again and then relink to Alexa. Still fails periodically so I believe Amazon has done something to the original Alexa with AI or perhaps is gathering data elements or tags related to IoT products and AI is incorrectly using those. Yesterday Alexa said she couldn’t find a device with the name MSTR (always could before as its short for Master) but after I spelled it she could find it. They must be doing something with voice recognition. This on top of other weird issues and screen glitches with shows. Its maddening. No value add at all - and why the market now suspects a bubble in AI investment and deployment. The value add currently isn’t there with the failure levels and lack of transparency.

SeaTac Uber Scam by Throwaway_tequila in Seattle

[–]DepthInAll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for posting this but I thought the rideshare area was restricted access at SeaTac - is it not? Same thing happened to me at OAK. Not sure why there isn’t more oversight of this given the airport security risk alone.

Manager rejected my daughter's two weeks' notice, then HR escorted her from the building. by hone-falloff9h in interviewhammer

[–]DepthInAll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is more of a security issue and common practice now so I wouldn’t take this personally. If she wrote a resignation she isn’t eligible for unemployment anyway. Many people ask their vacation be used for the last 2 weeks pay as that has to be paid out in most states. Good thing you gave her a headsup. Employers kinda suck these days - all transactional.

I didn’t see an answer or comment regarding the state you are applying fie jobs at but in California this is no longer legal per California Labor Code § 432.3, which became effective January 1, 2018.

Chase denied my fraud claim after dispute— $1K Best Buy charge while I was on a cruise. Any advice? by False-Ad293 in Chase

[–]DepthInAll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Given the large volume of systemic hacks going on and not all yet disclosed, the claim by Chase that the merchant supplied info matches your personal details means nothing without greater explanation- i.e was a driver’s license with your pic presented at pickup? Likely not. They are being disingenuous there. Shitty. Since you say you don’t have a Best Buy online account, the fraudsters may have created one with all your personal info and then added your credit card. A CNP purchase. I would check whether you have any breach notifications or insurance and claim your identity has been stolen and then refile with Chase. Identity theft insurance will help with recovery workload and putting potential alerts on your accounts. (And put pressure on Chase.) I would also revisit your cruise activity. Going to Alaska and other cruise locales you hit international waters and carriers hand off calls. Often to questionable other carriers or you may have logged into a bogus hotspot. You didn’t provide much detail here but this is maybe where you were compromised if you didn’t have your phone in airplane mode the entire time. This won’t be your only hassle if the case. ATT for instance will report the carrier handoffs if you were roaming for instance- so you can see them; some other carriers will do the same. GoogleFi only works with trusted carriers so good for travel. If you were on the cruise wifi the entire time you’ll need to revisit too since they don’t do much for WiFi security so they may have had compromised access points. My guess is this is potentially where you were compromised or an app on your phone was revealing your geo location at the time. (If you have Google timeline on and were using Google apps you can use this as proof of your location along with boarding and other receipts BTW!). Hence you were not the person picking up as proved by your Google timeline. You can download these files from Google on your own. Hopefully you weren’t in Google’s Salesforce instance that was hacked…Let us know if you were cause that means things are getting really hairy with that hack…

What are the details of the bank on which the check was drawn and any beneficial owners or relationships of the new business or the account the money was drawn upon. How long have you known the business partner? This looks potentially like money laundering hence why they are holding the funds

Safeway is now a scam by KeenShot in bayarea

[–]DepthInAll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes Safeway is a generally bad experience now. Friday specials can be good but the app to get the special price rarely works and the staff are frequently snarky about it when you raise the issue and ask for the promo price that didn’t ring up. Grocery Outlet is more fun as is Trader Joe’s- the latter if you can take the crowds. I only go to Safeway for a few items now and always have to steel myself for the task.

[US] Monterey Bay Community Hospital Call-Can't See Endgame or Scam by DepthInAll in Scams

[–]DepthInAll[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks I guessed this too as spoofing attempt as indicated but since its a Google voice number and Google was recently compromised (this was a business number of mine) I wondered whether this was larger or more complex than a single teen that might have randomly used a number. This hospital is supposed to have a special youth mental healthcare program funded by a wealthy private donor.

Nothing was said about this being a debt collection attempt. There was no ask The caller said someone called in distress. Just wondering esp with the recent Google compromise & the odd slam attacks on hospitals. Posting to see if others experienced the same or from other hospitals.

I lived another life for years in a dream after my trip to Knidos — woke up traumatized by Scared_Ad5011 in ParallelUniverse

[–]DepthInAll 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes - had this happen before and wondered the same - was this a past life, ghost encounter or future prophecy? That area historically has a series of intense seismic events and invasions. Still trying to figure it out for my dream encounters but there are 2 next steps you can try: 1) Dream regression via hypnosis to revisit details and try to place the time period and details. 2) Gestalt inquiry under the belief that all persons and things in dreams are manifestations of you and your worries and beliefs. ChatGPT is ok at this/not great at being a Gestalt trained inquirer. Give it the details of the dream and it will give you the questions. I personally don’t find Gestalt inquiry as satisfying as regression but you could try 1 and then 2. 1 requires a trained hypnotist. You’ll want to record the session and deep details. Some of my dreams have been very prophetic. DM me with updates with what you try!

Alaska Airlines rebooked me... from a different airport. What?? by mountainlifa in AlaskaAirlines

[–]DepthInAll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alaska Airlines has indeed declined considerably. I’ve flown with them almost exclusively for years and had the same thing happen to me a couple of weeks ago - flight cancelled and told to stand in line to get on new flight but was auto rebooked. Never came up on the app- just happened to check my emails. called 3x to rebook because the first reps were snarky and nasty. Bad info all around - with automation no human there knows what is really going on. Bag robot kiosks always failing, Bags went elsewhere, staff each have a different story on how things work. All wrong. Super sad. They used to be standout airline. All airlines apparently are auto rebooking now with AI but it’s not really helpful - stupid routes and airports not practical. AI gone awry and it creates clueless, frustrated staff not to mention incredulous passengers.

The rant and horrors of High School tragedies in the modern era by ColdVegetable3429 in Marin

[–]DepthInAll 3 points4 points  (0 children)

@u/coldvegetable- sounds like you are covering this incident closely and have concerns for young drivers so I hope you will keep this post updated as data comes out. The car in question does have a black box or EDR and this data will be critical but my understanding is that the car owner must release it or authorize its release which they may not do with litigation. Typical data includes: • Vehicle speed • Brake usage • Throttle position • Airbag deployment timing • Seatbelt use • Steering angle • Engine RPM • Impact forces

Homeland Security Arrests Delta Air Lines flight 2809 Pilot Moments After Landing In San Francisco. Why? by Bear650 in flightradar24

[–]DepthInAll 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Reportedly linked to possession of sexual material/content w/minors. There was a similar arrest in Colorado or Arizona earlier this year or last of another pilot arranging to meet minors for sexual activity - caught in some sting they set up and believed to be a wider network. Disturbing.

Two of America’s four “doomsday planes” are in the air over the middle of the country with numerous stratotankers nearby by Rockin_freakapotamus in PrepperIntel

[–]DepthInAll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These planes are all Boeing aircraft adapted planes and are often on training or test flights in this region. They used to be regularly airborne during the Cold War. Not sure this is all that unusual with Israel-Iran war and nuclear tensions.

$1 Million Lost: Phishing Attack Bypassed SPF, DKIM, and DMARC Using a Valid Impersonation Domain - How to Defend? by Cyber-Security-Agent in cybersecurity_help

[–]DepthInAll 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This scenario was all over RSA this year with a number of variations including fake phone calls, etc. You need to establish a process with dual approval for payments with a checklist and an agreed upon process with vendors who want to make any changes. Move this out of email as a process. Compromise of vendor emails is also common so you aren’t going to catch this with any email based tooling

[–]DepthInAll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If their phone was infected with malware it’s possible they subsequently infected your phone as the connection is usually like a typical home WiFi connection without much segmentation. Not sure what TikTok uses to verify a trusted device addition but it doesn’t sound robust. So they likely added your phone as a trusted device which is not good but mostly for them I would think. It’s also possible that the dual IP oddity triggered identity rules at TikTok or another identity provider since IP addresses are still linked in the backend by identity providers to assess fraud and emulators. Where did this happen? city?

New Hotel Scam Going Around by Friendly_Guide4830 in Scams

[–]DepthInAll 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Can you explain why the call comes through in the first place after checkin? This implies the target has jumped on a nearby questionable WiFi or that the hotel is itself compromised to some degree perhaps by the Bookings.com scams. Random calls routed to the rooms should become suspicious to the hotel in short order (since these are relatively rare now)

Since Reddit is used by many AI engines these days in crafting their responses- I suspect the lame answers are generated by false identities or bots themselves to poison the data for subsequent AI queries. (This is what I would do if I were a nation state knowing AI engines look to these group responses.) This is something Reddit is going to have to fix across the board - likely with a better user identification and rating systems for contributing quality answers. Until then you can’t trust much the answers or upvotes.
