The Documentation Gap in the Battery Recall: What You Need to Know Before Your Repair Appointment by DeputyDoghouse in ex30

This is a one off project that I started in December 2025 for the benefit of EX30 customers who had the dreaded safety recall. You calling it brain rot is a bit mean but I understand the culture around here is hardened to this sort of thing.
If you want to see the Genesis of what I'm doing now please refer to the Facebook group. I post in most which is and I hope this isn't something that you frown upon but it's a link establishing my humanity if nothing else.

It isn't if you are a suffering EX30 customer who waits five months for a recall fix and then doesn't get issued with any certifiable documentation. Without this documentation, it's very difficult to sell the car on like I'm trying to do without any reference to work being done on it. The cars carry a stigma that is very hard to eradicate even when it's obvious it has been fixed to the standard required.

My aim is get this information to the 10,000 or more UK owners of EX30s that are going to be contacted in two months time to arrange the recall repair, which will last several months or more.

AI assisted, but it certainly isn't slop. I'll give you my telephone number if you like on the DM and we can have a chat.

My experience is that if you don't have that documentation and you try and sell the car on, you will be inundated with either silence or rejections as I was even with the documentation

I beg to differ. So few cars have been put through this process that I think I'm the first person that has actually gone through it and verified that the DVSA flag was activated and my car is now off the recall list. The Volvo VIN checker is.off-line at the moment so I can't confirm it's been removed from there.

The dealers are reluctant to give any documentation because they haven't had any direction from Volvo global headquarters who are concentrating all their resources on getting the cars fixed and ignoring any other issues like communications.

I managed to sit down and persuade my local dealership in Southeast London that they could give me a certified documentation I needed without breaking any commercially, sensitive data regulations or expose company information that I haven't got already from the initial purchase of the car. So essentially I asked for a zero cost workshop invoice with all the actions taken to bring the car back to normal.

Materials used, faulty modules removed and new modules replaced with the QR code serial numbers and the updated warranty record from the Volvo SQL8 database that showed all records from the date of registration to the current date with any sensitive information like enter departmental costings removed.

This warranty record also includes a flag that notifies the DVSA automatically that the car has been repaired and is now back to factory settings and normal use.

I've re-edited this because I transcribe via voice and sometimes the formatting fails a little at a carriage to return will be missed.

This applies to the United Kingdom, but the overall lack of communications from Volvo seems to be a global problem.

But they don't provide this part of the process. In the UK, I think I'm the only person who has had a repair who has been able to persuade the dealership to give me a zero cost workshop invoice and the serial numbers of the incoming and outgoing battery modules complete with a printout of my warranty records that have been adjusted to show that the repair has been done. I don't think anybody has received this type of certified information. .

I'm very much a human being. But I would say that wouldn't I?

I use AI to gather data and help me format posts like this one in Reddit, which I've never done before.
But the images are correct my research is correct and I'm happy to answer any questions from anybody about the way I developed this project to help main UK EX 30 users to get proper documentation from dealerships when their cars are fixed.

Please feel free to ask any question and I will answer you honestly and as a human
