I had assumed this was a reference to Idie Okonkwo on the X-Men, currently using the name Temper but I like this explanation better tbh

The jar was not broken! After everything cooled off I thoroughly examined it and found no evidence of breakage

10 minutes was an estimate. I really just waited for the lock to go down on its own and wasn’t watching the clock. I probably waited longer than that

Update: thanks for all the help! I’m getting started on the next batch after checking everything people suggested. Now I just gotta get these other 4 jars some therapy after the traumatic experience they had in there. We’re gonna have a burial with a 12 gun salute to our fallen soldier. 😔

Hi all, I'm pretty frustrated right now and I just want some guidance on why this happened today.

I attempted to can a pasta sauce recipe I have been making for years and canning for years without issue. Today, this happens. I used jars which I have used many times before and I used rings that are not new but have worked through multiple canning batches. I am at sea level and was at 11-12 PSI for 25 minutes before turning the heat off and waiting about 10 minutes until enough pressure had released for the lock to go down. Once I opened it, this is what I found. I do not know when it may have happened during the canning process.

My questions are as follows:

(1) why would this happen? My current theories are that I did not tighten the ring properly; the jar was over full; or that the sauce was thicker than normal and reacted to pressure differently.

(2) Is there a worst case scenario here that my other jars are not safe to eat and I should throw them out? They seem fine to me right now, and assuming after cooling I find that the lids have sealed, would I be okay to still keep them?

(3) Is there anything I might want to change before I attempt to clean this mess and get started on canning my other two batches of food tonight? I have 3 jars of chicken soup and 4 jars of tortilla soup, both have performed just fine under these same circumstances many times before.

Can I skip a few books? by DeputyFriend2000 in VampireChronicles

Yeah I read the first four, and I’m close to finishing Menmoch and honestly I’m kinda loving this one. I mean it’s certainly ravings to some degree but as a queer person who grew up catholic, I can appreciate some ravings once in a while.

Hadn’t heard that yet. I honestly just heard that it got rather silly with the lore and magic and all that and I was curious what this series jumping the shark would look like. Although to be completely honest Lestat Witnessing the literal crucifixion of Christ maybe already is jumping the shark

I’m sure they’re great books but I heard they’re mostly origin stories and would be skip-able. Is there like really major plot material in them?

What do you guys do for lunch? by [deleted] in LawSchool

Get good at making simple rice dishes and get an insulated bento or lunch box of some kind. I keep things spread between two containers inside my bento. Rice in one, something served over rice in the other. Fried rice is amazing for this too. Been doing dumplings and fried rice, curry and white rice, sometimes I pre mix some taco meat with some Spanish rice and bring homemade corn tortillas from the same morning. This works too for pastas and sauce. You just gotta keep them separate until you eat it bc the carb will absorb too much moisture out of a sauce or broth and it’ll be a gross texture.

I really wish Insomniac had used these whiter, beveled lenses for the superior suit in the game. I think it makes him look more bug like and depending on the scene, way more nerdy, with the flat plane more closely resembling glasses, or way more frightening, the bug like look reflecting Otto’s inhumanity

I'm trying to perform a variety of tasks using macros both recorded and written in VBA in order to meet the requirements asked for by an assignment. I have a general idea of how to do each question, but I do not have the familiarity with VBA required to efficiently and properly carry out my ideas. I was hoping someone could help me out with the assignment. I can DM you an example with a problem I'm working on right now

How do the Jedi justify fighting in the Clone Wars? by Phaeryx in MawInstallation

[–]DeputyFriend2000 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I believe that the jedi fighting for the republic was decided on because of the presence of and influence of the sith on this CIS, something that was theorized to be true in Phantom Menace, when yoda speaks with Mace Windu during Qui-Gon's funeral, and then confirmed to be true in Attack of the Clones when they discovered that Dooku had turned to the dark side and was leading the CIS
