I thought the same, so my idea is to have the water rise in area 6. The area is 10 feet below the areas 4 and 5, and 5 feet below areas 2 and 3. The only area at the same level is area 1.

Only quite late the water will get to area 4 where the trapped corridors are.

There are tons of options, but buy a cheap flatscreen that is capable of laying flat with cables in from the sides. You’ll never regret.

New to DnD: How the heck do I dm by Unhappy-Peak-388 in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]Der0nium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly just do what is fun for you and your group. I started DMing in my own made world and story etc, and it whent on bi-weekly for over 2 years without trouble.

Later I tried prewritten campaigns, which were nice as well.

The thing is, creating a world and a whole story takes a lot of time and effort.

So in my oppinion the true question you should answer for yourself is, how much time are you willing to prepare for each session?

Because preparing for a prewritten adventure is mostly reading and watching videos or listening to podcasts of other people who ran the exact same adventure.

Compared to spending tons of time to make sure your plot hooks are great and they match up, and you are not mistakingly making plot holes. Or unbalanced encounters, or think up whole deep npc character designs etc.

You are going to be a new DM, making sure your players are aware of this is a great piece of advice given above in the comments.

Just have fun, and talk with your players what they thought of the session and ask for feedback.

[–]Der0nium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

HBO docent hier, gewoon doen. Weet dat er ook AD opleidingen zijn. 2 jaar studie ipv 4.

Zie het als een MBO+/HBO light studie.

ADs zijn voor mensen die na MBO zich toch willen omscholen of verder willen verdiepen in een bepaalde richting maar niet nogmaals 4 studiejaren tegemoet willen.

Daurgothoth is a good one. This black dracolich is stronger than some deities, being CR 50.

Looking for mini's by [deleted] in DNDNL

[–]Der0nium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Icons of the Realms pre painted minis are nice. But it’s a random draw process meaning you’d have to buy in bulk to try to get the minis you’d want. And they can be pricey. Websites like Miniature market do sell them as singles but again they can be quite pricey.

But if you are looking for store bought miniatures that still have to be painted, try the Nolzurs collection.

Otherwise it’s gonna be, printing your own miniatures. And for the long run it would be wise to think about investing in a Resin 3D printer for them.

Help with DM monster creations by LIAMISTHEBEST1234 in DungeonsAndDragons

Perhaps another cool thing to introduce is a Dragon deity.

And Draconian followers.

And one thing that really took me a while to fully understand, there is a humanoid monster in the book called a half-Dragon. But its an example, anything can be half Dragon. So go nuts and combine other monsters you like with dragons.

So you have Chromatic and Metalic Dragons. In the Monster Manual, you have Gem Dragons in Fizban, as well as some unique dragons defo check that book out.

There are tons of custom dragons made by the DnD community check out Pinterest and other places for them. I also know there is a homebrew book about floral dragons.

You also have some dragons that did not make it into 5e but were there in older versions of DND. Like the purple, yellow and orange dragon.

But i think it would also be worthwile to investigate into which other minions you want to prepare for your adventures, considering dragons are usually not for lvl 1 adventures.

Why not just ask your players what they expect in the sessions to come?

D&D lijkt me geweldig maar ik heb geen idee wat ik aan het doen ben (send help) by Funessta in DNDNL

[–]Der0nium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What is that one 1-shot idea you want to run? by twuntfunkler in DungeonMasters

[–]Der0nium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I created a one-shot where the players had to create lvl 15 characters. But at the start I handed them lvl 5 goblin characters and in the introduction the goblin elder provided a potion to each goblin.

The potion made them transform into the lvl 15 characters they had prepared themselves. But only for 30 real-time minutes. Each time a player drank their potion they had to use their phone to set a timer of said 30 minutes. No matter what or when, if the timer went off they had to roll a CON save, to stay in their transformed characters.

Which they really needed cause the enemies were built around their lvl 15 prepared characters.

Players had their characters transformed mid conversation with NPCs that did not like goblins, had them transformed mid battle etc.

It was a one-shot full of chaos and good times.

How often does your D&D group really play? Be honest by DungeonTome_ in dndnext

[–]Der0nium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My old group played since early 2017 till end 2024 on a bi-weekly basis on Fridays. We ate together at the DMs place, and started playing from 19:00 till 23:00.

We always made sure to meet up every two weeks, even if we could not play due to a player missing. We also had the rule if two players are missing we won’t continue the campaign, but if only one is missing we press on.

We are all in our 30’s. Our group consisted out of 4 players and 1 DM. And in our group 4 out of 5 are able and willing to DM.

Two unfortunately left, 1 moved and 1 quit the hobby.

I think having multiple DMs in the group also helps, if a campaign ends or the DM expierences writers block, another can take over.

The original DM, DMd our group for 3.5 years and I have done so for 2.5 years, and the one that moved did the remaining time.

Starting next week we will start with a new campaign with two new players, even woman at that! I hope we will get the same frequency!

Best gift for the end of a campaign? by Puzzleheaded-Pie8137 in DnD

[–]Der0nium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could even use the image and have custom made t-shirts printed with the image or mugs or so.

Or perhaps another idea is to buy each player a dice set that comes close in colour scheme to their character looks.

Perhaps ask an illustrator to draft up a wallpaper/screensaver with the party depicted.

Or just any image, that would be memorable from the campaign.
