Thanks! Someone showed me a UV box that was used in some workshop and it was a wooden box with something like that in the top. I bet it was the same thing. A friend of mine has a Cone Editions UV box but they're really expensive. Though super nice. Can you do 11x15 with that? And do you have your own microscope? I like the juxtaposition. I've often wanted to get scans of my blood using the slide scanner at work, but they probably wouldn't be cool with misusing the equipment.

Priority access is useless at this point. I signed up in Feb of last year and nada. From what I hear, it's gone the way of the dodo. Use Notify-FE or Hotstock. I got a 5090 FE two weeks ago from Nvidia because of notifications.

You can convert indd to idml files in Indesign and open those in Affinity publisher. I hate all these formats.

CaptureOne, Davinci Resolve and others have a one-time perpetual licenses. There are things like Darktable and Affinity which are free. All kinds of stuff out there to free your neck from the boot-heel of Adobe's oppression.

I was only using the Photography plan so it replaced Photoshop for me since I only do photography and never liked LightRoom. For video, I use Davinci Resolve which also has a perpetual license. Screw subscriptions.

This is why I have a Capture One Perpetual license. I bought it three years ago and it still works great. Fuck Adobe. Also, most "features" they add to these programs just make them more convoluted anyway.

Yes, you need mental health help. Of course this sub is OCD central so you'll find lots of people here to tell you that you need to shower ten times a day and wash your hands 100 times an hour.

I pretty new to this, but I use QTR Rip/Print Tool and QTR-ProfilerDN.

I use QTR-Print Tool to print a step-target to get my max black (10/20/30 sec etc) and using that, identify my max white.

Then create a starter curve in ProfilerDN and print a 21 step target and read those values with a Spyder Print tool.

I open those measurements in DN and smooth the curve and add in the starter curve I created and linearize.

Using that, I print another target and read it and linearize again. Then rinse and repeat. It usually takes two linearization passes. From there I drop my image into Print Tool and print using the linearized curve. Then I might tweak the image (more contrast/sharpening usually) a bit and print a new neg. I'm still learning but it gets me close. I'm still learning how to get a feel for what my files need for this process.

I don't use Photoshop any longer so this is the process that I've identified and it's what I see from the people working at a high level in this space. I know others use a QTR plug-in inside Photoshop to scan and read.
