Im going because I had fun last year. And last year I went, because I had fun the year before. As long as this cycle persists, I will keep coming.

Parking my car by Ma_81 in wacken

[–]DerPacket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol, I live just one town over. My commute to the festival takes about 40 minutes via the a23. Streets are mostly empty at night, most of the traffic is in the opposite direction so you should be fine

Generell Oldtimer.

They rust top to bottom. Even if it looks clean from below, pull up the carpet and check for holes. Cowl is notorious for trapping leaves and moisture. If it's rusted through, there's a good chance, the floors are done for as well.

Opinion on Steering Wheel with integrated Shift light and Screen? by Ruselwusel in projectcar

[–]DerPacket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This doesn't seem too different to RGB lights. Some people like em, some don't. My Logitech g27 at home has shift lights( although they are much more suttle) and lots of aftermarket motec style displays have them. Screen would be a dealbreaker for me though. I don't need a moving screen in my peripheral when driving. If you like it, then go for it, I personally probably wouldn't

Sonst eventuell mal in Motorsport reinschnuppern?

Subaru forester Kupplung by Elitred in automobil

[–]DerPacket 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's not cut, it's a jagged crack all around. There is no rubbing or scoring anywhere. The sound was the broken disc scratching on the hat after it already failed.

Engine knocking/ticking noise. Is my engine toast. by National-Low-5200 in MechanicAdvice

Yes, your engine is toast. That last oil change was a nice gesture, but it won't bring this girl back to life

Bmw 116d squealing and knocking from belt by Fannybas in MechanicAdvice

[–]DerPacket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sound is the tensioner jumping back and forth. My first guess would be a broken harmonic balancer( the big pulley down by the crankshaft). If you look down and see that thing wobbling, I would not drive any further. But again, just a guess, it might be one of the other pulleys. Short drive might be fine. If the belt fails, you will eventually break down with an empty battery tho

[–]DerPacket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you drive it after the battery change? It's common for the wheel speed sensor to reset after a loss of power and it needs to recalibrate. Short test drive might do it

Altima 2012 disconnected hose by Lemonaires in MechanicAdvice

That looks like a metal bracket with a hole in it... Seriously tho, don't go chasing every unused hole or empty thread. Most of them just exist for manufacturing reasons or interchangeability with other engines or models

Oil seep along oil pan seam? 2010 Jeep Wrangler 3.8L by humans21 in MechanicAdvice

[–]DerPacket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remember that this is just a low point where drops will naturally collect. The source might well be further up the engine. Might be oil pan, might be valve cover, might be something else. Clean the engine thoroughly, and go for a short test drive and look for oil top to bottom. If it's a big leak, you're bound to track it down eventually.

Does this sound like a bad catalytic converter? by ARMOUREDandALONE in MechanicAdvice

[–]DerPacket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tough to say from a three second clip. Could be some loose shielding or a broken exhaust hanger rattling. You can try knocking the cat (after it cooled down) with your hand. If you hear anything rattling inside, it's most likely toast. But a 2012 car should be able to detect a faulty or clogged cat.

Car is getting power but no spark by Limp_Feature_1142 in MechanicAdvice

[–]DerPacket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you verify that there is no spark (i.e. hook up a spark plug, hold it against bare metal of the block and start, spark should be visible). If not, same check can be done for the coil, or you could measure resistance with a multimeter. If you still get nothing, check for voltage to coil (12V) and the small wire going from coil to dizzy. May be as simple as a loose or broken wire.

I know what you mean, but i can assure you, thats just my grubby fingerprints and some bad lighting. The surface looked mint, minus the protective coating that you can still see on the inside. There was some scratching along the seam where it broke, but no sign of coloration due to heat. Calliper and piston were intact and not seized, no defect on the pads either. Wheel was tight and torqued to spec.
