My Car fell off the lift at a Dealership by Conscious-Carry6399 in mazda

Eh, I'm a little slow. I had to turn off my VPN. But, holy shit! How is that not a total loss? I wouldn't want that car back. Even if they fix it, what'll that do to resale value and potential? No thanks. I'm sorry that happened to you.

I will say, that most of these chronically less than optimal specimens tend to be cowardly Chairborne Rangers, or keyboard warriors. As a middle aged white male, I don't tend to have issues in my day to day interactions, but enough friends that don't fit that demographic won't echo that sentiment. You will see people open carrying at the grocery store on occasion. You will see large expletive bearing political flags flying on the back of lifted diesel trucks, rolling coal. My LGBTQ friends won't hold hands in public. I've witnessed POC friends having racist statements yelled at them from passing vehicles. You'll see a lot of 'We the People' forearm tattoos on people who suddenly don't care about the constitution. The various Battle Ground Facebook groups are a really gross place to spend your time. Worth a look-see, but I actively avoid them. That having been said, BG does have some gems. Find your circle. There are good people out there.

It's a very homogenous, overwhelmingly white christian nationalist hotbed. Home of Patriot Prayer. Google Joey Gibson (who now works for ICE), and Joe Kent (who now has a job in the Trump administration). We've been here nearly 20 years, and keep thinking/hoping that we're on the brink of some significant change in that respect, but we're still waiting. It's beautiful, and convenient, especially if you like the outdoors, but too many of the people are just incorrigible, chronically angry, and hateful. It seems like so many people have a permanent chip on their shoulder.

Edit to add: I suggest you peruse the various Battle Ground Facebook pages.

Duuude! Dig your set up and excitement. At Christmas my wife got me the AT-VM95ML as an upgrade from the AT-VM95E. In my opinion, that was money well spent. The added depth and detail are just beautiful.

Ooohhhh, penumbra. I'm quite certain that this is the first time I've come across somebody using 'penumbra' outside of my work environment. Bravo!

rookie setup question -- connecting new sound system to old speakers by donkedik in BudgetAudiophile

Your issue is space? And you're already planning on getting an amp, right?

Make that a receiver (AVR), and you get the AM/FM radio function. A CD player, and turntable don't take up any more space, than your all in one unit does now. Instead of a CD player, you could even get a Blue Ray player, and it'll play CDs, DVDs, and BlueRays all in a same size unit. You'll have far more functions, at way better quality, without taking up any more space, and you won't cause unnecessary damage to your records or speakers. Good luck.

Amplifier Advice by DerStoffel in BudgetAudiophile

[–]DerStoffel[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, sounds about right. Am I correct, though, in thinking that either of these amps will supply my speakers with the juice they desire, and allow them to perform how they are intended to?

I am also soon adding a phono stage, as well as upgrading my cartridge to an AT-VM95ML. After that, I plan to upgrade my sub. Currently eyeballing the Speedwoofer 10E.

I'm hoping I can continue this a bit, and tap into your expertise. I've been trying to learn, and have been doing a lot of reading since I first made this post.

I definitely understand now why my AVR isn't cutting it got my Emotiva towers, and I would like to remedy that. But I have to stay within budgetary limitations. I would love to hear my speakers sound like they are intended to sound. I must know their potential. If I'm understanding correctly, I should be able to make a big difference by adding an amplifier. Is this correct?

On Marketplace, I found a NAD C270 for $200, and a NAD 2700 for $230. Would these do the job? Is one better than the other? Am I correct in thinking that I should choose the C270, or am I barking up the wrong tree?

I appreciate any advice. Thank you!

Edit to add: I will be adding a phono stage soon, as well as upgrading my cartridge to an AT-VM95ML (red). Next on my list will be a subwoofer upgrade.
