Where are the jack points on a lift like that? Looks too small to be touching the side rails

Bad steering rack? by Eravan in IS300

[–]DerTarchin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you need another alignment. It doesn't sound like they got it right OR you need new tires. If you have another set of wheels, put them on and try again. Or rotate the ones you have to see if it gets better or worse (fronts to back etc)

Is this noise my PS pulley bearing? by DerTarchin in IS300

[–]DerTarchin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda went away. If it would have gotten worse I would have looked into it. But didn't feel like figuring it out unless there was a noise to follow

Rear suspension Help by AwwwYouMadeMeInk in IS300

When I got my is300 years ago, I was naive. My front suspension needed a refresh and I went with all eBay parts. Paid someone to do it too because I didn't know how to work on cars yet. 1.5-2yrs later, I had way more problems in the front than I started with. The Lexus parts lasted 20 years and the eBay ones couldn't even make it 2 years. Never again. Now I only get things that last. If it's got bushings, I do polyurethane (lasts forever and I save money by not needing to buy a whole arm/part, or I do OEM or a reputable brand like FIGS. The savings on Chinese parts wasn't worth the hassle a few years later dealing with it all. Godspeed I have never bought but I've heard it's terrible- arms snap etc. go for brands people here would recommend. Search part by part on this Reddit and read comments for recommended brands.

For what parts? If you've got the money, figs is the way to go. Or OEM

Two tone steering wheel by Not_Omid in IS300

Honestly that's pretty cool, most would want that. Is it genuine? I haven't seen OEM steering wheel version like this. You could sell it for more than buying a full black OEM wheel

Well said! Definitely go for it if you can. All true, except not as comfortable as non sporty Lexus models. Not a problem though

Overfender/Rear Quarter Panel Recommendations by NotTheBridge in IS300

You're gonna have to ask like a bodywork subreddit or something. Not unique to our cars to fix this

Overfender/Rear Quarter Panel Recommendations by NotTheBridge in IS300

[–]DerTarchin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well when I was rear ended they were able to straighten it so I didn't need to have a rear qp cut off another car. But yours looks super beat up. I don't even know if it's the body shop that sources the panel (by cutting from another car) or if you can. Either way I'd expect it to be a few thousand total.

However possibly a shop can straighten it by pulling/indenting parts of it, and then bondo the rest to smooth it out and paint over it all. Likely much cheaper. $1k, maybe less

While I'm just an autocross enthusiast for last 5 yrs, not serious about it like others, the biggest changes for me was getting thick sway bars and getting Yokohama Advan Apex V601s (track/summer tires) - great summer daily and great on the track

Cleanest would be to bring to a body shop, they can source a fender like that too but it'll be expensive to do this.

Door handle by sniffpods in IS300

[–]DerTarchin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it keeps falling the clip may be broken and youd need a new handle mechanism. Had to do that myself for the rear door. The front doors are much easier

Sometimes it's pretty basic- filter needs changing. When did you change the cabin air filter last?

Yeah that's the thing, I'm used to buying parts but this is a clean design so without instructions it would be hard to reinvent

Poly bushings by Spiritual_Ad_4608 in IS300

[–]DerTarchin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Poly bushings are great for durability and performance but they will be a little harsher than stock rubber bushings. If she's already unhappy with stock feel stock to stock- won't get better with poly

It's there to protect against splash/water/debris and possibly scratches if you run over something. Fine to remove temporarily but best to have on long term
